Now I understand why this feature is not available: without a way to delete attachments you are forced to either delete the entire email message or upgrade to a paid account. With an attachment delete function you could conceivably keep a "free" account alive for many years, if not decades.

It is currently impossible to remove attachements in emails. Especially, when archived, I would like to remove some attachments from my emails such as signatures or banners.

Would it be possible to implement this feature in a future version? I know that it is still possible to transfer the email and then remove the attachments there but it's not the most convenient way.

As a user of Protonmail when I click on the "archive" button, I want to have a pop-up that allows me to delete some attachments from the email prior to archiving it. To not clutter the "archived" folder and inbox storage space with unecessary attachments.

Removing unnecessary attachments or documents which have been downloaded saves storage space of users and server place for Proton.

Not needed : just click on the attachment and the X to remove will appear

Absolutely need this. Some companies don't use email signatures properly and I am surprised at how these add up in terms of file space for multiple copies of the same logos which I have zero need for!!

I agree, deleting attachments would be really good. I’m sure it would save me a lot of space while keeping the email trail.

I worked for a company that had an optional add-on they’d developed for email. It removed all attachments it found in your mail, identified duplicates and put one copy in a database. It added a link into each email where an attachment had been removed so you could easily get to the deleted attachment. Only catch was you couldn’t go back once you’d started. Saved a mass of space.

I ran it about once a month. Some didn’t, some more often.

I totally second this! There are old emails which are definitely worth keeping but their attachments, once downloaded, may be useless, and they take up a lot of essential space

Deleting the attachments from e-mails shall be a basic functionality. I am a paid user and I am surprised that I must either keep the entire e-mail correspondence together with big attachments or delete all e-mails. Please improve it at once.

Hi, this feature has recently been added in Posteo and it is really useful (save storage, good for planete..!). I hope protonmail will offer a similar function.

I also agree with D's comments about combining votes related to this request, and to having the ability to remove each attachment individually. I've really been missing this feature right from the start. It's a key-feature of an Emailapplication. Working on this feature will stop me from looking for other emailproviders, like Eudora.
