Quick import event from ICS in the create calendar dropdown menu
I don't use proton email for work, but I use proton calendar as my main calendar app. I get a lot of calendar invites sent to my work email with an ICS file attached, so my main way of adding these events is to go to setting/import and export and do the import there. But this two-step process is quite slow.
So instead, can we have an extra Add event from ICS
file in the "+" sign dropdown next to "My calendar"? I suppose this should be simple to add but this could be a huge convenience for the users.

Simply click on the + in the calendar and click "import from .ics" instead of having to go into the settings.
There's already an option there to "Add calendar from URL." So why not import from .ics?Would be nice to have.

Agreed with S, these two ideas are not the same. Granted, the backend aspect of the .ics import would be the same, but the UXUI aspect is enirely different for the end user, and also presumably for the teams programming the respective interfaces. As the email interface idea has been disappeared into the calendar interface idea, this is absolutely wrong, and future viewers will not know of the previous suggestion nor of how popular it was (or wasn't).
This is equivalent to gerrymandering.

> Idea: An .ics attachment in Proton mail should easily lead to an event in Proton
> Combined into: Quick import event from ICS in the create calendar dropdown menuThese are really really not the same. Yes, there should be an easy way to add events from an ICS file in Proton Calendar. But it's really not enough. If ever there is an ICS attachment in an email in Proton Mail then there should be a one-click way to add the event, without having to even open Proton Calendar!

It would be nice if the imported .ics file process had, during import, appended a tag to each imported event, to allow in the search process the ability to select, mass move or delete multiple events in one go.

This was on their roadmap for 2024-2025 winter and has been implemented very early on after the announcement. Both Android Proton Mail app and web mail client do support importing ICS attachments to Proton Calendar as events. This request is already implemented.
If you are getting ICS file which cannot be imported, make sure that it is not in a zip file, or contain incorrect format.

Apparently on Desktop/Browser this is already completed (as of Jan 2025)? I tested it just now with Edge and Firefox and it worked on both.

I tried to import an ICS for an online meeting for the first time today and was SHOCKED to find that "import from ICS" was not on the "Create a New Event" UI.

Is it not easy? I just drag and drop the ics file in.

I too find this a major issue with proton calendar, a quick import on the calendar screen would go a LONG way to making it a favorite; its so much of a pain to use as it is.

Yah, it's actually a 5 click process just to import a calendar event. Should be 2.

When I have received an e-mail in Proton Mail with an .ics attachment I should be able with one click on that attachment to import/save it in Proton Calendar. Now I can only download that attachment (tried in windows app, android app and browser).
This seems to me a very logical function! -

Yes. Import *.ics is very important for web and mobile. This is one reason I didn't move to Proton Calendar as my primary calendar.

I find that frequently I need to save a .ics file to my desktop (because the event is not sent as an e-mail invitation) and upload it to my calendar. I use the import / export feature to do this and it works great (thank you!) but I dislike having to go through settings and multiple steps to execute. It would be very helpful if there was a quick import button on the main calendar screen. Thank you!

I just found that you can drag and drop ics files into web calendar directly without having to do to the settings!. I feel like a fool for taking this long to find it, but I think that solves this problem at least on desktop.

Alternatively, it would be nice to just drag and drop the ICS file onto the calendar pane without going through or as an alternative to button clicks.
Edit: Turns out you can do this by dragging and dropping the ICS file onto the calendar pane. Should have tried it first. -

With so many invites assuming you use Google or Outlook, we have to import the .ics. Making this quick as described above would be great.

The "New event button" should have a dropdown that provides alternative methods for adding events, such as importing .ics

I have a lot of events that provide an ics file. It's painful to import these at the moment - I have to go to settings (and log in each time), then hit the import button, then select the file.
Ideally, there would be an "Import event" button under the "New event" button which immediately opens the file dialogue to select a local ics file.

This would be a very handy feature to have, as now I have to go into the setting to import the .ics file and this is a bit bothersome when you have to do this every time you have a new appointment to add.
