Making calendar like budgeting app. Treat time like money.
Hi,
Recently I read an article (written in Chinese) about treating time as money (https://rich01.com/time-bank/).
Time can be seen as a kind of asset that will automatically generate 1440 unit (then disappear) per day. So we might apply financial concept on time just as money:
- Budgeting: Budget time and reserve it for important but not urgent things.
- Emergency Reserve: Don't fill up schedule, keep enough flexibility for yourself to cope with unforeseen situations.
- Bookkeeping: Keep track of your time.
- Investment: Look for things that bring more value per unit of time invested.
- Dollar-Cost Averaging: Allocate time to one thing of value over a long period of time.
- Asset Allocation: Finding the right proportion of your life, career, family, and friends.
- Compounding: Finding something that can be done once, spend time once, and produce long-term benefits, even once and for all. → What I comprehend are things like travel, gathering which will generate long-term memories.
- Leverage: Pay others to outsource or buy time and expertise.
It might be conceptually different than most calendar, but I think it will definitely change how we use our time with this mindset.
What if we can budget our time allocation per week or per month, and Proton calendar can show a pie chart of actual time spent?
How about a notification remind us what portion of life we haven't spend enough time on?
Or a notification congrats that we've already spent enough time on things we like?
I think there would be lots of things we can refer from budgeting apps.
Regards,
Kent
