  1. ProTube Or ProtonTube

Well with all the services proton offers now i’ve been able to get away from google and microsoft services completely…. Except for one we all gotta have because it’s really so massive it’s in a league of its own . That is youtube ! It’s the last link i have to have to google . I run a burner email in there but still hate that i have to rely on one of their services for premium video services . Proton could really open a big door and further engrave their name as a leader in the tech world in…

  3. Explore Outlook PST in Proton Drive or import into existing email folder/account

    Usage:
To import a .pst file and select which email account you'd like to use. Messages are brought in and act as your regular email or you can select an option to essentially 'explore it' like a subfolder after it's been uploaded to your Proton drive.

    Background:
PST files act as a local storage copy of archival messages that you don't want hogging up your mailbox account. However, in some instances such as Proton Mail, it might be beneficial to have access to that backup copy such as from your Proton Drive.

    Personal use case:
    For my personal use case,…

  5. Out of Band Verification of Websites and JavaScript Integrity

To reduce the risk of MITM attacks (e.g., eIDAS 2.0 proposal in the EU) and increase visibility of any code tampering for Proton resources, please consider a separate extension that works like the Code Verify extension produced by Meta: "We’ve given Cloudflare a cryptographic hash source of truth for WhatsApp Web’s JavaScript code. When someone uses Code Verify, the extension automatically compares the code that runs on WhatsApp Web against the version of the code verified by WhatsApp and published on Cloudflare. If there are any inconsistencies, Code Verify will notify the user." See:

  8. Add share sheet to mobile

I would like to be able to send files (either individual or batch-selected) from the Proton Drive UI to other applications.

For example: Google Drive's UI allows one to select one or more files and send them as attached files in a Discord chat.

The browser extension could also sync bookmarks and reading lists.

This would establish a strong baseline for a future browser, maybe even an RSS/News Aggregator/Reader,

  10. Contact support with privacy preserving option such as PGP key

Add a way for customers to contact your support team in privacy-preserving ways, such as, enabling the use of PGP keys. This is important because when zendesk or (insert customer support platform name here) suffers a data breach, sensitive information is less likely to be leaked. This could be easily done by allowing users to contact the support team signing the email with their own PGP keys.

  11. Update without logging out

The recent ProtonMail for Android 4.0.4 update logged me out and I missed some important emails. I only realized the update had logged me out when I wondered "why haven't I received any email for the past few days?" and opened the app.

Please don't log users out when you update your apps. Or if that's unavoidable, at least send a notification to say something like "ProtonMail was just updated and we had to log you out. Please log back in so you don't miss any notifications"

  13. App specific One-Time Passwords

Add the ability to generate one-time passwords to log in to Proton apps (mail, pass, VPN), without the need of typing in the "master password" to log in to any of these apps on new/insecure devices. Generated one-time password (if app specific) can be shared with someone or used to log in to only the app it was generated for (e.g. ProtonVPN) to keep the main account password and the rest of your apps secure

  14. Create limited passwords to access certain parts of a Proton account

    Summary:
Allow users to create a second, "limited" password for their Proton account, which would only provide access to limited data (e-mails and Proton Pass data) of their choosing.

    How it would work:

    1. A user creates a limited password for their account and chooses which of their Proton e-mail addresses and Proton Pass data are accessible with it.

    2. Upon logging in with the limited password, only those selected addresses (and associated messages and data) and Proton Pass passwords are visible and accessible.

    3. Other e-mail addresses and Proton Pass data remain completely hidden and inaccessible.

    Purpose:
    Limited passwords would help users…

  16. Cryptographic algorithm in a removable file

Freedom is what the law allows us to do...
Cryptographic algorithm in a removable file...
Encrypting text for reading from the device. In offline mode. The dat file is encrypted and sent to the mail participant. The file is saved in the program and is used to translate the message. The test can be converted into a pin code for reading from another phone and quick offline translation. The protection file is located on the phone's local disk.

  17. Simplelogin alias available directly from the compose window iOS/android

It should be much much easier to create an alias for contacting random entities.

If one clicks on a link which opens ones email client, one has to to go through several hoops just to set up and send an email them from a SL alias. Especially on a mobile device this is a massive pita.

When composing, when one taps the 'from' section, along with ones regular email addresses there should be a random SL address to choose instead.

  20. For mail, allow the email to open without leaving the email list screen. This way you can click from different emails without clicking back.

Like in gmail you can have the mail list at the top of the page and the email open at the bottom.
