Stop with politics
I just read your newsletter. I don't care what Proton thinks of Ukraine or Covid or any other issue going on in the planet. I want an email service. That is all. Don't give money to any causes, use it to improve your services. Keep your opinions out of it. Leave giving to causes to your individual employees or owners. I am seriously considering leaving your service if you don't stop this virtue signaling madness.

I agree with you Pierre. Don't be discouraged. You're not the only one trying to escape Google as well as the corporate activism. I like Proton's focus on privacy, but if a better, less politically vocal, alternative becomes available, I will consider switching, because I'm fed up with ACTIVISTS too. And everyone knows you're not talking about Proton promoting *privacy*, it's about *activism* and unnecessarily picking sides in political fights.

Here is a newsflash: Every single company is involved with politics. Every company, as a whole or individual (the CEO, Owner, etc), has political views and use business funded money (YES YOUR MONEY) for causes. Stop being triggered all the time. If you want to invest in your money on businesses that share your views, fine. But stop pretending the rest of us will notice you will leave. Or that businesses shouldn't offer views on things; because again, money in every single business circulates in the economy and funds various things, many of which you or I may not agree with. It's being an adult and not a baby always crying because a company spoke about "x".

I disagree. I think it's important to signal values as a company because values matter. If you think privacy is important then that's a value statement. If you don't like it then you are free to use services that have no value objectives other than profit. The world is full of them.

One of the core principals that Proton has been built on is freedom of speech. Proton has just as much of a right to speak their mind, just like you and your stupid opinions. Once you pay someone for their services, what they do with the money is up to them weather you like it or not. You can choose to stop supporting them, but this really shows your arrogance. Out of all the things your upset about it's a charity donation and them being against war?
Their values have been clear since the beginning, freedom of speech and a right to privacy.f you got your head out of your own ass every once and a while, you might have understood that.

If you read here https://proton.me/about/impact they state the following:
"Proton provides free and open-source technology to millions of people and organizations to expand access to privacy, security, and freedom online."
"Without privacy, there can be no freedom of speech, and without freedom of speech, there can be no democracy. Together with millions of Proton users from around the world, we are working to build a better internet and society."
1. War is wrong, regardless of country. There is nothing wrong with being against war.
2. You don't have to follow their newsletters or their social media accounts in order to use their services. No where in the UI of any of the products they have political commentary.
3. Part of their mission (quoted above and found in their link) is freedom of speech. Russia as well as other countries are against this mission. -

Do you know you don't have to subscribe to their newsletters or follow them on social media in order to use the product?

Pierre, I'm deciphering from your non-specific post that Proton has sided with Ukraine. Good for them. If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to use Proton.

If you don't care, why did you read the newsletter?
Protonmail does not require payment, so how is it your concern how they use their funds? If you paid or donated money, vote with your wallet and stop sending them money.

I don't see how where Protonmail is located has any bearing on the views or mission statement of Protonmail.
I think Protonmail should try to help during wars and other humanitarian crisies. I don't know what that has to do with politics, neutrality, or activism. I don't mind a company who thinks that war is wrong.
I agree that more issues should be highlighted, but they had to start somewhere. I thought you wanted Protonmail to keep these kinds of interactions to a minimum, so I don't know why you want them to highlight Yemen.
Why bother to sign this with your name if you don't want people to know about you?
I find this entire message very confusing.

Could you please clarify your goals as en email provider?
If you consider yourselves as freedom fighters willing to engage here and there around the world, please make it very clear.
And you should let people know that BEFORE they subscribe.Let me know so that I can quit proton as there was a misunderstanding right from the start.

Dear proton team,
I'm very disapointed to see proton getting involved in any kind of conflict.
First, you should'nt do any politics.
Second if you want to help people suffuring from wars around the world, then you've got a lot of work.
Why dont' you do the same let's say for Yemen?Stay Swiss, stay away from all of this.
I became a proton customer and accepted to PAY for my emails because I wanted to "degooglize", to stop letting google know absolutely evrything about me.
But probably maybe more importantly for NEUTRALITY.
Because I'm fed up with ACTIVISTSI don't want anybody to tell we what to think, who I should help, fight, what's good and bad.
and above all I don't want to know my mailbox provider's opinionon all of this!Regards.
