This has been a major hurdle for me so far. Most services I use support or require an external identity provider and Proton seems like an obvious choice. This would be an absolutely fantastic feature to have.

I want proton privacy and security every step of the away. And with that in mind I would like move away from other providers.

This would be a absolutely vital Feature for considering the proton Stack as a serious alternative in a company context. Single sign on is just to much of a comfort and security loss when thinking about switching from google/entra to something else.

I joined proton to gradually eliminate Google (and the other big players) from my life. It's difficult to do when Proton doesn't offer this service.

Because i'm sitting her with my oauth service having to look at x and facebook, whose indoctrination made trump and a lot of right-wing party percentages in europe even possible. I added BlueSky so I can finally remove them, but how about you get your sh together, because i want to finally have an alternative to google login as well.

This feature would be extremely useful especially when paired with email aliases, especially for services like Tailscale or really anything you'd rather not have associated with your real name or email.

I'd like to have a private version of Oatuh and potentially other authentication methods for 3rd party apps that authenticate/authorize with Proton.
In my mind this service will allow me to, while authorizing the app, pick and choose the data I share, like email: email alias, name: a pass configured identity, and similar.

I love the convenience of logging into services with my Google account and use it often, though I know it makes me dependent on Google. Creating separate accounts with my email is too cumbersome. A 'Login with Proton' option on websites, like at https://app.simplelogin.io/auth/login, would be fantastic. As a web/app developer, I would definitely implement it in my apps if it's easy to use.

I understand it takes time for websites to adopt new login options, but it won't happen if it doesn't exist. This would be a great way to enhance Proton's recognition on the web.

Worth knowing you can actually do this with simplelogin as they are owned by proton.

However support using webfinger authed Oauth2 ( RFC 7033) is not currently implemented and so you cannot use it for stuff like tailscale:

This could also be good for marketing on proton's end. People singing in will see "Sign In With Proton", and then might search google, to find out what proton is.

It would be so cool if I could use this internally on my own local sites with OIDC.

That way, one would actually only require one password / passkey to log into all their services, password manager, cloud and email.

I love that idea. But then, developers need to implement it, right? I'm not sure companies are ready to pay for this since Proton is still a niche compare to Google.

Allow user access managment with Proton/SimpleLogin and use SimpleLogin as oauth provider / SSO for other platforms like Sign in With Google or 365. This will make Proton more central in organisations and can greatly benefit small enterprises who do not have this yet and even families.
