Server capacity & disconnection issues
Hello ProtonVPN Support Team,
I’m using ProtonVPN free and facing serious problems while connecting:
Because nearby servers (e.g., Netherlands, Poland, Romania) are often full, I’m frequently routed to very distant servers like Singapore or Japan, which causes high latency.
While connected, sometimes the server suddenly reaches capacity or, due to my modem’s same-SSID issue (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz switching), the connection drops and I’m forced onto another server. This makes online games disconnect instantly.
When I try to switch servers multiple times, the client enforces a long cooldown, which forces me to wait unnecessarily.
Since free servers are very limited and usually overloaded, I kindly ask you to:
Increase the number or capacity of servers available for free users in nearby regions.
Improve connection stability so that sudden server switches don’t happen during gaming or real-time usage.
Remove or reduce the cooldown limitation on server switching.
With love from Türkiye 🇹🇷

Server capacity issues can be frustrating, especially when many users try accessing beta features at the same time. It usually helps when access is managed in short sessions to reduce overload and random disconnections. I’ve seen some platforms experiment with timed access models similar to what’s explained here https://unlockbetaservers.com/ where entry is limited and controlled. Structured access like that could potentially ease congestion and improve overall stability for everyone involved.
