I'm a paying Proton customer and I genuinely enjoy Proton. I believe in what it stands for and I want to move my whole digital life here. But the suite still feels incomplete, and I think it comes down to priorities.

THE PROBLEM: NEW PRODUCTS INSTEAD OF FINISHED ONES

Over the past couple of years Proton has launched Lumo, Wallet and Meet, while basic requests from existing customers have waited for years.

Lumo is the clearest example. It isn't powerful enough to compete with the assistants people already use, and it can't really compete with other privacy-friendly options either. Privacy-focused users already have Duck.ai, Venice.ai Brave Leo, or can run models locally with Ollama or LM Studio, where nothing leaves their device. It's hard to see why Lumo needed engineering time ahead of fixing the apps we already pay for. Wallet and Meet raise similar questions. None of these were what most of us were asking for.

WHAT I'D LIKE PROTON TO FOCUS ON INSTEAD

1. Proton Docs that meets real requirements. Schools and workplaces have formatting rules, and right now I can't meet them. Please add more fonts (self-hosted open-source fonts, so there's no privacy leak), page layout, line spacing options like 1.15, 1.5 and double, and headers/footers.

2. Proton Drive for Linux with a real desktop app, not just a background sync daemon. (So much time has already passed, Proton has heard us and ignored the request for so long, finally in 2026 they claimed after 5-6 years to make a Linux client)

3. A Linux VPN client that looks and works like the Windows and Mac clients, with the same features and polish.

4. Push notifications that work on de-Googled phones. Many of Proton's most loyal users run GrapheneOS, CalyxOS or LineageOS without Google Play Services, and notifications there can be delayed or unreliable. Please add UnifiedPush support. Avoiding Google shouldn't mean a worse Proton experience.

5. Proton Slides, once Docs and Sheets are solid, so the suite can actually replace Google Workspace.

WHY THIS MATTERS

I understand encryption makes every feature harder, and I appreciate the team's work. But people on Linux and de-Googled phones are exactly Proton's core audience, and many of us are the ones recommending Proton to friends, family, schools and employers. Right now I can't fully commit because the basics aren't there.
