Proton Pass on iPhone Could Be More Visual and Organised
I’ve fully migrated to Proton Pass from another password manager. Functionally and security-wise it’s excellent, but the iPhone interface which I use the most, feels very plain and hard to read. The vault list is just a flat text list with no dividers or subtle background differences, making it difficult to read. Some gradient or visual separation between logins would make a huge difference.
About icons, around 60% of my logins use generic ones. Users should be able to add their own, and automatic icon detection could be improved. Visual recognition is key for quickly finding entries.
The Categories section is confusing. Tapping it focuses on Storage instead of the category list. Of the seven options, only “Logins with 2FA” works well, opening a clearly labelled list. The other categories show a brief black pop-up at the bottom that disappears before you can read it, with no headings or clear structure. The logic behind these categories is hard to follow.
The wrench icon is over-used. When creating items under “Other", each type (bank account, passport, driver’s licence etc) initially has a nice, distinct visual, but all end up with the same wrench icon. This makes little sense visually and reduces organisation.
Proton Pass is an amazing manager with unmatched security and functionality, but visually it could use more colour, icons, gradients, and separation. Improving the iPhone UI in these ways would make the vault feel organised, solid, and much easier to use at a glance.
