"Focus/Fullscreen Mode" for Aliases to Improve In-Person Privacy
Hi Proton Team,
I have a feature suggestion for the ProtonPass mobile app (Android/iOS) to solve a privacy gap when sharing email aliases in person.
The Problem:
When you need to give an email alias to someone in person, spelling out a string of random characters and numbers out loud is highly impractical and often leads to mistakes. The alternative is showing your phone screen to the person.
However, the alias view screen shows both the alias address and the original "Forwards to" email address at the same size, one right after the other. Showing your screen to someone completely exposes your real, private email address, defeating the core purpose of using an alias. The person could easily use the original email by mistake, or even take note of it.
The Solution:
I suggest adding a "Focus Mode" or "Fullscreen" button next to the alias address. Tapping it would open a clean screen that:
- Shows only the alias email address in a large, bold, easy-to-read font.
- Completely hides the "Forwards to" address and all other sensitive fields.
- Supports both portrait and landscape orientation, allowing the user to easily rotate the phone to show it to the person.
This small UI addition would massively improve real-world usability and protect user privacy during daily, face-to-face interactions.
Thank you for considering this!
