1. Integrated Phone Aliases (Recyclable Virtual Numbers) for Proton Pass

   Currently, Proton Pass (and SimpleLogin) does an amazing job at hiding user emails via aliases. However, most modern services (social media, marketplaces, fintech) require a phone number for SMS verification. This is a massive privacy hole where users are forced to give up their real identity, leading to SIM swapping risks and marketing spam.
   Describe the solution you'd like
   I propose an "Integrated Phone Alias" system within Proton Pass.
   Generation: Users can generate a virtual phone number (VMN) directly from the Pass UI.
   Reception: SMS codes sent to that number appear inside the Proton Pass item (similar to how 2FA codes work now).
   Recycling: Users can "recycle" (delete/rotate) the number once they are done with a service or if it starts receiving spam.
   Describe alternatives you've considered
   Using third-party "burner app" services, but these are often untrustworthy, not encrypted, and don't integrate with a password manager.
   Additional context
   As a College developer and privacy enthusiast, I believe this aligns perfectly with Proton’s mission. Technically, this could be handled by a backend integration with a VoIP provider (like Twilio/Vonage) while the mapping of the number to the Proton account remains end-to-end encrypted in the proton-pass-common logic

2. allow changing custom field text type to hidden type and vice versa after field creation

   given that these field types are basically the same data structure just with a UI difference of show or don't show, it would be nice to be able to change one to the other during edits after the initial creation.

4. Expand Proton Pass auto-lock duration options

   Please expand the available options for the “Auto-lock after” setting in Proton Pass.

   The current auto-lock duration options are too limited for users who want Proton Pass to stay unlocked longer on trusted personal devices while still keeping automatic locking enabled as a safety mechanism.

   Suggested new options:

   • 1 day
   • 1 week
   • 1 month
   • Custom

   For the Custom option, users should be able to enter a numeric value and select the unit:

   • Minutes
   • Hours
   • Days
   • Weeks
   • Months

   Example custom values:

   • 12 hours
   • 3 days
   • 2 weeks
   • 2 months

   Why this matters:

   Different users have different threat models. On shared or work devices, short auto-lock intervals are appropriate. But on a private, trusted desktop, short lock intervals can create unnecessary friction and make Proton Pass less convenient to use throughout the day.

   Adding longer and customizable auto-lock durations would let users choose the right balance between convenience and security for their own environment.

5. The ability to mark a passkey for only certain subdomains

   I recognize some website will use a subdomain for authentication and you want the passkey to work across them, but it is really annoying for me to login to certain services that have two or 3 services under 1 domain that do not link together, each has its own passkey.

   The ability to stop the wrong passkey from showing up when logging in would be handy! Even just a "Ignore this passkey on this subdomain/url" option!

   Can we please get @protonmail.com aliases ? Apple does it with @icloud.com… so surely you can too

   It would be much better than @passfwd.com or @passinbox.com that look suspicious af, and get blocked by many web service providers.

   Currently we can only grant access to individual items through the pass-cli. In the app we can give a PAT access to vaults but not individual items. It would be useful to add support for individual items

9. Native Mac OS app for Proton Pass

   As far as I can tell, on Mac OS, Proton Pass relies solely on browser extensions, which becomes cumbersome when using multiple browser profiles. A dedicated Mac OS menu bar app would provide a more seamless and convenient access method. With a menu bar app, I could:

   • Access my passwords across all browser profiles without reinstalling extensions
   • Quickly retrieve credentials without switching browser contexts
   • Enjoy a consistent password management experience similar to 1Password's menu bar implementation

   This would significantly improve the user experience by offering a universal, always-accessible password management solution.

10. Paperclip icon in the item list

    In Bitwarden, if I attach a file to a login item, a paperclip icon appears in the item list to let me know there is an attachment; this doesn't exist in Proton Pass, so if I can't remember where I attached a document, I have to open each item to check.

11. Feature Request: Alternative Autofill Methods (Keyboard Shortcuts, Context Menu, etc.)

    Hi Proton Pass Team,

    I am a Proton Pass user and I really appreciate the privacy-focused features you provide. However, I am writing to strongly request the implementation of alternative autofill methods for the browser extension.

    Currently, if the inline menu fails to appear or is blocked on certain websites, the only fallback option is to open the extension, manually copy the username/password, and paste them into the fields. Clicking on a login item inside the extension popup does not force an autofill either. This manual process is quite frustrating and disrupts the workflow.

    Competitors like Bitwarden and 1Password already have robust alternative input methods to handle these situations, such as:

    • Keyboard shortcuts (e.g., pressing Ctrl+Shift+L to auto-fill)

    • Right-click context menu integration (Right-click > Autofill)

    • One-click autofill from the extension popup (Clicking the credential in the extension directly fills the page)

    To make Proton Pass truly competitive and improve the daily user experience, I highly request that you implement these same alternative autofill features.

12. Add url testing

    I would like Proton Pass to have a bulk url test option, that checks if the websites associated with entries still exist (the full url or at least the domain).

    My entries list is long and some sites are most surely long gone or have changed urls/domains. A bulk test option would help with clean up.

13. Proton Pass for Windows to have update program option

    While it is good to have somewhere to see the current installed version of the app, adding an update app area would improve workflow in many sectors, including personal installs.
    I have recently found how to use WinGet to update the apps on my computer. WinGet already recognizes that Proton Pass (and other Proton apps) needs an update and attempts to update them. For me, WinGet fails to update Pass almost every time. A more secure option would be to open Pass and go to a "Check for Updates" section which would be coded to check a secure server and verify the app before installing over the existing app. This would remove the third-party apps possible insecurities and also streamline updates: currently I have to log in to the website; download the updated app; verify checksums; run the installers; verify the app runs; delete old installers.

14. support tagging in proton pass items

    is there a roadmap for tag support for password items? I'm in the process of moving from 1password and have cli based workflows based on tags and that's going to be a big gap. I can potentially work around this by creating a custom field and manually manage tags there but that's going to create issues when/if it's done non-programmatically.

15. Feature Request - Launch on startup and desktop-to-extension integration

    Hey everyone,

    I have a couple of suggestions that I think would really improve the Proton Pass experience:

    1. An option to launch the desktop app automatically on system startup.
    2. Direct communication/integration between the desktop app and the browser extension (similar to how 1Password does it).

    One Microsoft account = 15 root domains, so Pass splits it into 15 "sites." For example, a login saved on live.com isn't offered on microsoftonline.com, azure.com or office.com.

    Microsoft's list: microsoft.com, live.com, microsoftonline.com, office.com, office365.com, cloud.microsoft, azure.com, windowsazure.com, xbox.com, bing.com, msn.com, hotmail.com, windows.com, microsoftstore.com, passport.net

    Bitwarden ships this exact group built in. Apple's password-manager-resources repo groups them too.

    Ask: built-in equivalent-domain groups, user-defined groups, and a "merge duplicates" button.

    Apple's password application in IOS 18 has the ability to automatically update your password with a passkey for websites that support it.

    Add possibility to import directly from apple password manager to proton pass (on iOS). Apples password manager does not recognize that there is a different password manager to export to.
