Dear Proton Product Team,
I’m writing to suggest a new product that aligns tightly with Proton’s mission: Proton Weather — a private, transparent, and accurate weather app.
Why Proton Weather
Privacy-first by design: No third-party trackers, no ad IDs, no precise location stored server-side, strict data-minimization, and open privacy documentation.
Trust & transparency: Publish model sources, post-processing methods, and known limitations; provide a “why we forecast this” explainer for key parameters.
Open science & verifiability: Prefer reputable, documentable sources (e.g., ECMWF/IFS via licensed access, ICON, NOAA/NWS, MeteoSwiss where licensing allows, Copernicus satellite data) with clear attribution.
Ecosystem fit: Integrations with Proton Calendar (severe-weather event overlays), Proton VPN (privacy-preserving location), Proton Drive (offline map tiles / radar caches), and Proton Pass (secure notes for emergency plans).
European leadership: A privacy-centric alternative to ad-tech weather apps, developed under Swiss/EU data-protection standards
