Is there any progress on this yet? Releasing via F-Droid is a great idea. I'm thinking of giving up ProtonMail or downgrading to the free version simply due to the annoying Google Play Services popups the app constantly produces on my rooted phone that is devoid of Google Play Services/Framework.

Perhaps there is a way to utilize the vast server network you have created for ProtonVPN to support your own in-house app update service and notifications? Thereby becoming completely independent of any 3rd party app downloading and updating service.

Please use F-Droid or a similar service that will support updates and their notifications. Let's take another step at removing dependence on gOOgle's prying EyEs. Thanks.

Make use of the Amazon Store if Play Services are required to be hosted on Play Store. Everything does not have to be Play Service enabled.

There are various non Google sources for apps used by people who don't enjoy that company being around and with them all the time, e.g. F-Droid (I guess one of the most straight forward ones and possibly the only actual "store" including the ability of updates... Though an exclusive reliance on to one store would be idiotic)
It would indeed be exceptionally appreciateable if it was possible to support further parts of the privacy-concerned community.
