Currently, there is no way to change the default incoming email notification on iPhone. There is no setting to change in the application.
Also, changing i{hone settings in "Notifications" and "Sounds and Haptics" sections, does not have any effect on incoming email notification sound. Basically, application is not considering phone level settings as of now.
Either provide a separate setting in the application to change the sound like WhatsApp or get the values of notification sound from iPhone level settings

I was googling about 'how-to' change the notification/alert sound for ProtonMail app in iOS but looks like there is no such feature. This is not so cool, for a very cool app. I'm a developer and I believe the level of effort to add this feature to the app isn't that difficult.

I see from the posts that this request is not be taken seriously as it has been requested since 2018. It is very important to identify mail from other low priority notifications. On iOS we can not change the sound associated with a notification. Can you please treat this FEATURE with the due priority I think it deserves. Even if it is the option of just a couple of sounds that are different to the existing builtin notification. Many people will be appreciative of your work in making this feature happen. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

I think this is a “must” kind of feature. First, my ProtonMail sounds like everything else. Second, my pet freaks out at the generic apple sound. Third, I want a way to differentiate between work and personal email.

The notification tone currently used by ProtonMail (iOS) is also used by other apps, like GoogleVoice. Would be nice if ProtonMail had a distinct sound.

Couldn't agree more. Having one default notification sound for all my apps in iOS is frustrating to say the least. Integrating PM with IMAP would allow you to choose whatever sound you wanted when you got a new mail message....would kill two birds with one stone!

I came here trying to find a way to do exactly that. Surely it can’t be that difficult to give us the option to change the default notification sound. Why has it taken 21/2 years?

In my workflow, I set the sounds according to priorities.
In my work email, I have set a most urgent tone.
In my company email shared by team, the notification sound is set to another.
In my personal email, I have set to a more relaxed tone. This way I can decide if I should respond without looking at the phone all.

"I think it would be great to have even some unique alert sound for ProtonMail mobile apps set up by defauld. And, of course, with possibility to change it to any other sound."
I second this.

I just joined proton mail, and I agree that this would be really nice.
I was considering trying to set up proton mail in the iOS mail app but I really don’t care for that app so it wasn’t worth it for me.
