An error occurred while saving the comment I'm Old Gregg! commentedQuite right. By defionition, calendar events are time- or day-specific, and thus have a high time sensitivity and priority.
In contrast, SMS and other instant messages are not time-sensitive, so it really is necessary to know which type you have just received.

I'm often scrolling through my calendar, one week after another, to plan ahead. If there's an item in my calendar which commences after 14:00, I don't see it without scrolling down, which means I can't continue to scroll through weeks.
