Sync contacts with phone address book
Sync the Protonmail contacts with the phone address book (contacts app) and vice versa.

I completely agree. Contact synchronization with the native phone address book is basic functionality and something Proton desperately needs.
I am currently in the process of migrating my family from Gmail to Proton, but this is one of the main things holding me back from completing the migration. I don't want to keep Google or another provider just to synchronize contacts.
For a service that aims to be a real alternative to Google, native contact sync on iOS and Android should be a core feature. Please prioritize this.

This MUST be a top priority. If Proton actually wants to be a true alternative to Google, they MUST offer this. It's insane that it hasn't been sorted at this point. Please make this happen ASAP! I switched over to Proton to de-google, but I might have to go a different route since you don't offer this REQUIRED service to properly de-google.

Planned for seven years. This is going to be so sweet when it arrives. It will have so many complex features presented in a secure, simple package. Super excited to see the outcome of this planned feature!

So far, I've been using Mail, Calendar, and Contacts with Office 365 (Business account) along with various domains of my own. I've now tested Proton Unlimited for a month. The fact that my contacts don't show up on my phone and I can no longer see who's calling me is the deal-breaker for me—the reason why I won't be making the switch after all. Too bad.

In order to avoid having two address books that I manually sync occasionally, I have set up Apple Mail to access my Proton Mail account using Proton Bridge, and have removed all contacts from my Proton Mail app.
Now, I read incoming mail, and reply to it, in Proton Mail app, but I either write new messages in Apple Mail, or look up and copy the target email in Apple Contacts and paste it in to Proton Mail. Crazy!

THIS IS BASIC: Tuta has solved this two years ago very elegantly on iOS: https://tuta.com/blog/full-device-contact-integration-is-here
Would appreciate to see such a neat integration from Proton, as well - on iOS as well as on my MacOS-machine!!
Excuse my language, but the usability of Proton's contacts integration on phones is very lousy... As a valid address book for phone contacts Proton is not of use at all. One cannot place any FaceTime-/Signal-/etc. calls out of Proton contacts. Placing normal phone calls is at least possible, but really not handy. Furthermore, one does not see incoming caller names on the screen, as the contacts feature is not integrated into the device, at all. Please do something about that!!

Planned but not implemented! Come on guys this is a basic feature that you had on your previous version! Stop developing so much AI slop and make some progress on basic features like this.

I just switched to Proton and am shocked the contacts list is hidden in the mail app and my phone app can't recognize these phone numbers. Why! Now I have to copy all my contacts to google or microsoft, which is what I'm trying to move away from in the first place.

Seven years -- this has been planned for seven years! If this had been a person missing this long, he would have been declared legally dead.

Why even have Proton Contacts if they cannot sync to the phone?
