This is planned for 7 years?! It is a basic basic basic function which is urgently needed - I don't need wallet, AI, Meet, Sheets etc. I just want a good webmail with calendar and contact sync on my mobile phone. Please stick to your core products, finish them, after that improve them and THEN focus on additional apps if you really must. A contact app should sync with the mobile phone and should give the possibility to have different address books and contact groups/tags to sort them. This is not just needed for workflow but it could be your niche and I am sure, more people would be willing to switch to Proton Mail entirely as soon as it is a full alternative to Google. Now, it is definitely not and when Tuta continues with its improvements, it is worth changing the service.

After all this time paying for a subscription, I still have to use Google on my Android phone because this essential feature is neglected by Proton. Proton has been saying for 6 almost 7 years that this had been planned, meanwhile they roll-out other services that are less important strategically nor do they have the Uservoice votes. Proton needs to pay attention and value its customers.

Why is still still planned since 2019? It’s one of the main things they need to do. Or even if a separate app I don’t mind. Just need a way of syncing with encryption!

PLANNED for almost six years now? This is not a nice to have, it is a mandatory functionality.

This is a joke. Tuta mail synchronizes with the phones contacts app, why can't Proton figure this out? This is what I really dislike about Proton and why I cannot use them, a lot of great products that are "almost" complete. The focus is all over the place. Need contact sync, Drive Linux client, You can put every other app on Linux but somehow this is way more difficult. I love all of your products, but you have to focus up, even if it is to focus on only mail and get things working, then contacts, then calendar, then drive, etc... Six years is a joke. As another person in the comments said, you are not serious at all. You have 400+ employees, if you can't get this working, what the heck are they doing? Is it all marketing? Stop playing with the AI that no one asked for or wants, and fix your products.

This will be kill feature, especially for iphone, where contact sync isn't end-to-end-to-end encrypted.

Please add standalone Contacts apps for Android and iPhone!

Now that Proton Drive allows document scanning (which is a big change), we need a proper way to manage our contacts within Proton, including synchronization and editing. Ideally, a dedicated application that allows for comprehensive contact management.

PLANNED for almost six years now? Proton, get serious about protecting our data! Get some (more?) developpers!

This feature was planned on January 2019, how is it possible not to have it implemented/developed yet???
My family is trying to switch to Proton, but it's extremely hard because very basic functions are not available and that makes Proton not very user-friendly.

How is this still a missing feature literally a DECADE later?

I just signed up with Proton and trying to use contacts on my iOS but it seems there is no way to sync when I add new contact.
Based on previous comment and requirements, I request to add the feature soon so that we do not have to add manually.
Thank you -

Please do this ASAP, it's my main gripe with the service as a new user.

This would be perfect, would save me using a Nextcloud instance with Dex just for my contacts.

Seeing all the stuff that's been done over the past years by Proton, I can't imagine this being too hard or taking up too much time. While it does make a huge difference in terms of privacy: people are still pushing PII data into big tech cloud solutions like Gmail. Or, they're using a competitor's contact book, like Tuta's, which does sync.

This is critical and other apps have this, although they are not privacy orientated so I can’t use them.
I do not want to uploaded by contacts to Apple as this is not e2e. When I change devices I need to be able to download contacts to the new device. The current way via Proton Mail is not great and is not two-way nor automated.

yeah this is an absolute MUST HAVE, ideally incorporating it into mail bridge/the proton mail app, with a toggle to "enable offline/local copy" so if i want to turn off mail bridge, it'll leave an unencrypted copy of my contacts, and automatically sync them next time mail bridge is turned back on. also would love the ability to sync from an old google account.
