Color labels/categories in calendar
We just started using the ProtonMail calendar, but notice there is no way to color code events/categories such as we had in Outlook/Google calendars. It would be helpful to have this feature included to easily identify the type of event at a glance.

Being able to customize the calendar color labels with named event types would be very helpful.

I see that color-coding is available in Proton Calendar. Like others below, I find it unhelpful that naming the categories still is not possible. This means the user must remember the meaning of each color, with no other cues. I assume that filtering or searching by category will be an option, eventually. Choosing categories by name will be key when that feature arrives.

I'd also like the ability to change the labels on the colors so instead of "carrot" or "plum", I can have labels like "important", "work", "appointment", "travel time", etc.
I'd also like to be able to change / add the colors with a standard color-picker model, rather than the pre-determined color palette.

Mandatory and critical to be able to label the events in color (which is available) and to assign to this categories. This should work on IOS and ANDROID as well.

I'd like to classify the colors in Proton Calendar like "Meeting", "Office", etc...

2/20/25 We have the color code option in Proton Calendar now...what I would love to do is be able to change the name of the color to an "event category" of my choosing. So that when I go to add the color code to my event, I can remember which code I had opted to use for specific event types.

please reduce clicks by having the colors immediately available when creating or editing an event.
please allow colors to be labeled so it's easier to remember which blue means what
please allow a way to select all imported outlook events by label so they can be color coded in your system all at once. I.E. identify all medical events to color code for the Proton Calendar.
Please offer the option of retaining the colors for past events - it's hard to find events by the small color bar when they have been grayed out.
Thank you!!

Not sure if you (Proton) read these after the fact but just wanted to say THANK YOU! Thank you for releasing this feature and functionality of the ability to color code events in the Proton Calendar. It has made the family much happier. :-)

Color labels feature like in Google Calendar would be pretty useful for me

Is there an ETA on getting this feature? We really need this and will only help with the adoption of Proton away from the (not so) "free" calendars from Google and all privacy pillagers.

This is indeed critical. It also stops me from using the calendar, and prefer to use Google. you need to be able to see at a glance what appointment is which. different color coding helps.

I would also love to see custom colours attached to a searchable label function. For example I can tag or label an event as "appointment" or "work" and then filter or search on that label.
The workaround of using separate calendars is also not ideal, since it removes the ability to easily share a unified calendar with others.

Before protoMail I used Google Calendar, and I got into the habit of labeling each event with a color for each category. Today, I'm between a paper calendar and your calendar, and I want to use this here as well.
In the end, of course, it's the same thing, but I don't think it's really helpful to have a dedicated calendar for my out of the ordinary (but important) appointment that I have less than 10 times a year, or a dedicated calendar for my running session.
It will work, but I don't want to juggle 5 or 6 different calendars when I put in a new event. It may be a gimmicky feature for most people, but I find it really useful when I just want to know at a glance which event is what.

This is critical. Important if multiple lables/categories are selected then color the event/entry with all the colors of the laabels. Like stripes etc.

I have some color coding options in my calendar, might be in beta? But it looks like the colors are limited to the theme your using, which, is okay for now.
But what would be ideal, is a color picker, but second best option, is include three grey scale swatches along with the other colors.

This is a deal breaker, not only for the calendar, but for the entire proton sphere. This is the only thing we noticed to cause problem in our transition away from google. Problem is that now we're in some middle ground step with using proton services for some, and google services for others, which has already caused problems and I've been asked to revert ALL our uses back to google

Labels to filter/search/arrange calendar events would be incredibly helpful. More helpful than having multiple calendars.
Bonus idea. If it's possible to then share a subset of a calendar that'd be *chefs kiss*.
You could keep your calendar organized, and then more easily share stuff out to folks to let them maybe see details for a specific label, but only see free/busy for everything else. -
