Absolutely critical. Baffles me to see how many features are missing from Unlimited

I agree. Unblock SMPT for Proton Ultimate. I pay for Proton Ultimate, but I have to keep Gmail to receive notifications from NAS.

I absolutely need this feature for my homelab
honestly expected it to be a given in a plan called "unlimited" -

Adding my voice to all those below: please add this feature to 'unlimited'. It's frustrating to have the highest tier account for an individual, and not have this feature. I need it!

This function should not have this limit to Unlimited Account. Or they should change the plan name to semi-unlimited.

Why is this only in mail essentials? that is too minimal for my use case. And Family and Business too overkill. Please add this!

Need this function for my homelab! I was very disappointed that it is not included in the unlimited accounts. To me this seems as such a basic necessity.

I feel like this should definitely be an option for unlimited users. I don't see any reason why something like this would not be included in a premium, paid email service

Very much appreciated. I think this is not too big of a deal to have. And long-term subscribers with an older subscription benefit shouldn't be forced to switch and loose their benefits for wanting a very valued feature.

Please include this in the unlimited tier.... Will absolutely be moving away from protonmail once my sub is up specifically because of this.
I am baffled that the unlimited plan which I believe is the highest tier plan (excluding business/enterprise accounts), doesn't include the same features as a lower tier! Wth?? Why am I paying more for less features?
So if I downgrade to mail plus or w/e its called, then I can use the smtp tokens? Is that really what the company wants people to do?

Yet another vote for this it seems the Unlimited but Limited account has a limitation even though it says in the marketing description that IMAP/SMTP are included, no mention there that only applies to the Bridge functionality. I do not care about IMAP but the ability to send emails using SMTP is the ONE feature I am missing from my previous provider (moved definitively to Proton just two months ago.
Obviously I can go around this using external providers but I'd rather not have yet another solution.
I tried to see if there are any options to remove the limitation from the Unlimited account but as far as I can tell I need either a Family or a Business (or Visionary?what's that?) account for this which seems somewhat over the top.

Like many here, I've come to realize that setting up SMTP on devices is not an option for Unlimited account holders.
I guess buying the Unlimited plan doesn't really mean you get all possible features. Might be a good idea to consider another name for this plan then.
I have IP Cameras and other network related devices that I need to send email alerts from but now need to figure out another option.
Please add this feature as a high priority for the Unlimited plan. Looking back to see the first post requesting this in 2023 I can only hope its added soon. 2 years should be plenty of time to roll this out if its being considered seriously by Proton.
I tried to use the "Compare Plans" option on the main web page to see how different the business plans are to the Unlimited plan but was not able to do so

Another homelab enthusiast here, trying to get a few simple email alerts set up from my self-hosted services. Really disappointing that this isn't included in Unlimited, as it sounds like many others are in the same boat. Please consider adding.

I totally agree with all the comment here. It is very disappointing that this feature isn't available to unlimited accounts, since me too I have a custom domain.
Even though I found a way to make it work through my external webspace provider, it would have been way better if proton let's me use my main domain to do it!

I was very disappointed to see that I can't use SMTP tokens for my selfhosted services. The amount of emails getting sent from my selfhosted services is very minimal and is not worth switching to Business account for that. -

I do feel this should be included with unlimited accounts, it's odd that it is included with similarly priced subscription types and not this one. I think the average user would have lots of uses for this without needing a full blown business account. I'd really rather not use something like mailgun or Gmail for this when I already pay for a pretty comprehensive service from Proton.
