Customisable windows like in Gmail - the one thing I miss so much about them.
Okay, I'll describe it to you since it's best. Before Gmail went dangerously rogue on me for reasons I still don't understand, I was something of a power user, and I had this beautiful elaborate setup (which I now again have access to, some years later), which I would best describe as one large window titled "main" down the left side of the screen, and three much smaller ones on the right, one I entitled "important stuff" which was filtered anything from my family or finance related and further colour-coded with labels etc; the one below it was purely stuff to do with my music career, such as it is; and the final one below was purely about updates to or messages from my website...
It took me a long time to perfect and I have a list of filters running to well over 80, many with multiple parameters, and about 40 categories down the left, some of which were only visible when they had something in. Others eg. my girlfriend were visible all the time.
It was a true work of art in my humble opinion, and seriously allowed me to organise my life in a way that I've not yet come close with Protonmail yes, much though I love everything about their ethos except the odd refusal to fix the alias login thing. I mean, maybe that's asking a lot, but it almost made using it fun. Almost enough to forgive them from nuking an 18 year old account without explanation, eh?
P.S. I've read through a good 40 pages or so and I'm a tiny bit surprised nobody's mentioned this one yet, so I thought I'd stick my oar in. Thank you.
