Support for the new PCT (Pacific Time) Timezone in use in British Columbia, Canada - UTC-7 - Also Manitoba and NWT
BC Government Information: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/governments/celebrating-british-columbia/daylight-saving-time
British Columbia observed Daylight Savings Time every year until it was ended in 2026. Quoting the article above:
"The transition to one year-round time zone began on March 8, 2026, when clocks moved ahead by one hour. This was the final time change in British Columbia. People and businesses need to prepare for November 1, 2026, when clocks would usually be turned back, but now will remain the same. At that point, the transition to Pacific time, the name of B.C.’s new time zone, will be complete. PCT is the accompanying abbreviation. PCT replaces the former seasonal abbreviations PST (Pacific standard time) and PDT (Pacific daylight time).
...
Pacific time/PCT operates at seven hours behind co-ordinated universal time (UTC-7), matching the current offset used during daylight saving time."
This update was applied to the IANA Timezone Database in release 2026b: https://www.iana.org/time-zones/releases/2026b
Proton, especially Proton Calendar, shows the timezones as "GMT-8 America/Vancouver", but this offset is no longer accurate.
This suggestion is to update Proton to match the new Canadian timezones
As I was researching this post, I noted that Manitoba had also moved to permanent UTC-5

Agreed. I'm getting reminder emails showing - 8GMT and my appointments an hour behind, even though my phone and event in the actual calender app show the right time. BC, Yukon, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are all on permanent DST now.
This new timezone for BC was announced March 2, disappointing they've waited until after it's happened and become a problem to bother (hopefully) adjusting their software for it. Cant believe I'm actually PAYING for this, lesson learned never sign up for yearly subs 🤦
