Resend already sent email
I do not see any ready way to resend an existing email. If I want to send the same email to several individuals without using CC or BCC, there doesn't seem to be any means to do so. This would be a helpful feature to have.

Email Follow-Up Reminders
I would like to set reminders to follow up with people at a set time. 1 week or 1 month, etc. I send initial emails and then like to keep in touch at intervals but have difficulty keeping track of who I need to email again and at what date.

Auto Mark Spam as Read
I don't want to see that I have x amount of spam messages. Spam still feels annoying when I can see the number of unread spam messages. Please mark them as read when they come in or remove the count next to the spam label on the left. I freakin' hate spam and I don't want to see how many spams I've received...Thanks!

Encrypted Email from Outside (Non-Protonmail) Users
User ability to send a special link for outside (non-Protonmail) users to send encrypted email to them, but perhaps only from email addresses allowed (to avoid spam or discourage abusive behavior).
For Example: I have Gmail, I want to send an encrypted email to a Protonmail user but I do not want to sign up for Protonmail or install PGP. How can I send an encrypted email to a Protonmail address then?
With this feature, I can access a Protonmail link via HTTPS given to me by the user which will allow me to send an encrypted email to them.…

Enhanced Folder Functionality
Every other major (and many minor) email clients have hierarchical folders - organizing emails is not a discretionary function. Proton Mail should have:
Nested folders (critical)
Unlimited nesting (important) - a reasonable compromise would be 2 or 3 levels of nesting.
Drag n Drop sorting (critical)
Search options that reflect hierarchies (all folders / sub folders / this folder) (important)
Color inheritance (from the top-most folder in a group (not important)
I can't fully migrate off my other emails until this basic functionality is supported.

Auto-Archive Email
Outlook provides the ability to set rules for automatically archiving email based on age and folder/label. Rules like this allow a user to keep their mailbox clean and reduce storage utilization.
It would be fantastic if we could set the following:
- A default auto-archive age for all mail.
- Set custom auto-archive ages for a certain folder or label that overrides the default.
Even if the default is set to "Off" for everyone, I'd love this ability.

Zapier Integration
Generally it would be great to see ProtonMail available in Zapier, particularly with support for Triggers like when new Contacts are found in ProtonMail.
Example use case:
Paid user, using ProtonMail for both personal and business and with respective alias for each. Whenever an email from a new Contact hits the Inbox, addressed to user's business alias, user wants to then do X (where X could be any number of things, using other services).

Not automatically marking a message as read
It would be nice to have a default option that allows you to keep messages as unread when selecting/viewing them.
I would like to keep all messages as unread until I manually mark them - this allows me to keep better track of what I need to respond to.

Data retention policy per Folder
Allow specifying Data Retention Policy per Folder, such as:
1 Month delete, 3 Months delete, 6 Months delete, 1 Year delete, 3 Years delete, Keep indefinitely, Custom (N days/weeks/months/years)
Allow overriding the retention policy per message; for example, usually messages in a folder may have, say, 6 Months delete policy, but mark an individual message to Keep indefinitely.
These should be available for all Folders, including but not limited to Trash and Spam.
Default all folders to Keep indefinitely, unless otherwise specified by the user.

Advanced auto reply
Being able to set different reply for each email address.
Stop auto reply or give different reply when the client sends the message the second time with the same subject.
I use auto reply so my clients know they sent the right person.
I don't use auto reply for vacation or off-duty stuff. This can really improve ProtonMail!

Visual indicator to confirm when SSL/DANE are being used when sending mail.
It would be good to see implemented a visual indicator showing what encryption and security are available when sending mail to external email services. (indication of SSL being used to send the mail and if validated with DANE/DNSSEC)
This is implemented on a competitor and shows some useful visual feedback of whats being used to send the mail.
See the link for an example of what it looks like elsewhere.

Sieve 'fileinto' automatic folder creation
Sieve filters can be used on some server software (true for Dovecot, for example) to automatically create the folders specified in the 'fileinto' command if they do not already exist.
Maybe I'm mistaken, but it doesn't seem to be the case for Protonmail.
Why it is useful (in my opinion at least):
If you share sieve rules between several servers, automatic folder creation helps sharing these rules without having to create the folders on all the mail servers.
It allows dynamic folder creation based on email metadata (e.g. sender, subject, ...).
It could also be combined with the regex sieve…

Group alias for custom domains
In order to make my custom domain useful, I need the ability to create group aliases. For example support@example.net or sales@example.net. Right now, I can add these as a new address to a single user, but I cannot automatically forward/distribute the mail sent to that address to a group of users on my domain. I could do this in an ad-hoc way if automatic forwarding was available as a feature, but that is not supported either.

Hide My Email Address (Private Relay service)
I pay for a ProtonMail email address. I want to be selective about who I give it to. Let us hide our real email addresses.
Let us create randomly generated email addresses that forward to our real email address.
Abine Blur lets your do this (8 random characters followed by @opayq.com). Mozilla Firefox lets you do this (9 random characters followed by @relay.firefox.com). Sign in with Apple does this (10 random characters followed by @privaterelay.appleid.com).
Even Outlook lets you register 10 aliases for free each year.
Proton should do it too. Either 10 or 12 random characters followed by @relay.protonmail.com.
