  1. Why can we not upload and send more than 15 mb? Are we back in the 90s for ever?

Think protomail is great in many ways. But it is getting sort of useless when sharing photo and sound with upload limit to 15 mb only.

  2. Possibility to download all attachments at once and compressed

Dear ProtonMail team and dear all,
As a Thunderbird and Apple Mail user, I find very practical the possibility to save all the attachments at once (most often as a *.zip file). Do you think compressing multiple attachments is doable on your servers? Or would it be possible to have a function to download all the files at once (for people who forget to zip/compress it first when they send them)?
Thanks a lot for your hard work and incredible service so far!

  3. Contacts sync in the mobile phone app

Contacts sync for mobile phones. I want to migrate my contacts management to protonmail away from gmail.

I want the same for calendar - but first things first :)

  4. Allow PGP encrypted mails to non protonmail contacts

If I want to send an encrypted mail to a non protonmail E-Mail address I can't do that right now (I mean besides that link thing)

Please add in the contacts section a way to upload the public key of a non protonmail user. That way we would be capable to send and receive PGP (GnuPG) encyrpted mails from others.

  5. Support HTML5 web notifications for incoming emails

Some services like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp Web, Skype and others send standardised HTML5 web notifications when new messages arrive. Chrome, Firefox and Safari have been supporting this for quite some time. The notifications happen locally and only as long as website is opened (e.g. in a tab) and the user is logged in. ProtonMail should support it too so that users are notified when new emails have arrived.

  6. "Keep me logged in" option

I really like ProtonMail and use it as my primary mailing service. But one of the most tedious things about it is having to enter the two passwords every time i want to check my e-mail.

ProtonMail keeps logging me out after a few seconds/minutes of closing its tab, so i now have to keep a tab open in order to continuously check my e-mail. Furthermore, i'm using long passwords (in conjunction with Keepass) for more security, so it's not easy to type my passwords every few minutes.

I use ProtonMail on my desktop home computer, so there's no danger…

  7. Gracefully handle plain text emails following conventions

There are lots of popular email clients/front-ends out there (eg Thunderbird, Sylpheed and even gmail) that follow a time-tested set of conventions for handling plain text mail.

Protonmail currently doesn't follow many of those conventions.

One example. When you reply to a message, the original message should be be block quoted with angle brackets and prefixed with a little header like this:

    On <date>, <email_from_field> wrote:

    Quoted line 1. Something something.
On line 2 I say something about something.

Plain text emails should be a first class citizen in ProtonMail!

  8. Removing accounts after some time of inactivity and Recycling usernames are bad ideas.

Email is not only a communication tool, but probably more importantly an internet identity. People use their email to open accounts on websites. If an email address is deleted and reused by another user, then all personal data bonded with that email address is lost and at risk.
As I know gmail doesn't recycle email addresses. That's a considerate idea.

  9. Show me the last time I logged in.

It is always good to know if you really are the only one person who uses the login. Keyloggers etc. make it possible to hack your account.

  11. Aliases like GMAIL

    Hello,
What about improve the aliases system?
If you see on gmail you can use username+everythingyouwant@gmail.com and you keep receive them.
This can be useful for who like me need to register multiple accounts with same email.

  12. Bridge Desktop App

I know that Protonmail can't integrate with existing desktop mail apps, such as Apple Mail our Outlook, because of the extra passwords. However, I'm not a fan of having to access Protonmail through my browser. Is it possible to build a desktop app with similar functionality to Apple Mail our Outlook (minus the extras, such as calendar integration etc... although that would be nice too)? If you guys build an iphone app, for example, then I don't see it as a huge step to move on to a Mac OS app after that.

  13. Download all mail and attachments

The ability to download all mail and attachments associated with a PM account. This would be useful for keeping mail even after the 1 GB limit is reached -- it could be deleted from PM's servers after it is downloaded to a local disk. Once downloaded, security (encryption) would be the responsibility of the owner.

  15. Limit the number of chances a non (Non-Protonmail) User to enter the password !

One of my friends told me about proton mail and sent me an encrypted email, so i got a link and then went on to the log in page and found out that my friend forgot to send me the password. Well i texted him and in the mean time the password hint said 6 digits so i wrote a simple brute force program and opened the mail. Simply because you guys forgot to limit the number of times a user can enter the password :)

  16. Contact Groups

We need to be able to group contacts, with the option to send mail to specific groups. The ability to add a group to the TO: field is a must as well, there is no way to add multiple contacts at the moment. This is a necessary feature that I have seen in every email service I have used.

  18. ProtonVPN

It would be GREAT if the Proton team could also provide a pay for global VPN service.

I am sure plenty of folks would help crowdfund and contribute to the Proton team create a VPN offering HQ in Switzerland.

  19. No Recycling Username: The privacy of the user must be protected all the time! Forever!

I think that it's very important that a username can't be recycled after some time that is not used.

    For example:

    • outlook after 1 year recycle and reassingn the username
    • yahoo after 6 month recycle username and reassign it to a new user

I think that is very important protect the privacy of the people, and recycling username is a risky practice.

Yahoo in past has created a privacy concerns for the practice of recycling username of email address that are not used.

Read this and you will understand:
