Import email from yahoo, hotmail, google etc
Please have ability to import your emails from yahoo, hotmail, google etc and have the option to keep a copy on your yahoo account etc as a backup if you wish.
You can now import email from yahoo, hotmail, google, ect using the ProtonMail Bridge: https://protonmail.com/blog/thunderbird-outlook-encrypted-email/.
A dedicated Import tool will be coming in the future.

I have used First Class for my emails, and I am unable to import my emails. The First Class login is different (it is typically a name) than the email address; however, with Protonmail you do not have an option for a separate username to login. I would love more options for importing. I have also been unable to import via the Import-Export app either with an mbox file or with rtf files (which is the only way First Class Exports).

Here is what I did;
1. Connected my Outlook.com account to Outlook 2016
2. Installed Protonmail bridge
3. Connected my proton mail to Outlook 2016
4. Copy / Paste the emails from Outlook.com to Protonmail account in Outlook 2016
5. Wait... I hade probably 6 years of emails, so its a few gig, but it syncs and it does come over to Protonmail.Simple as that, hope it helps

Changing email box is hard, mostly when you have to lose all your old emails.
Allowing to import all received mails, sent mails, archived mails... could help us to move from GAFAM mailbox to this secure one.

Yes, I am still waiting for that to happen as I posted that back in 2015 and still nothing yet?

I can't even make the full switch to proton until this feature is a thing. I have a domain so as soon as I switch I'll be unable to access my old emails from my existing provider.

This will be so valuable when it's implemented.

This and multiple emails per custom domains are the two things I need to become a paying customer. I just can't dump the gigs of email that are currently in my gmail, as much as I want to get away from Google. They've got me locked in until proton mail lets me import my data. I'm looking forward to that day.

I totally agree. I am prepared to sign up for yearly subscriptions, but not until this is a feature, plus until there is a way to switch the horribly confusing conversation view threaded messages off.
