I don't know why people are moaning about this, the functionality is there, the next message gets automatically selected, but not automatically opened.
The reason you use protonmail ( I hope anyway) is that you want to remain secure/anonymous/etc. Well, protonmail is doing just that, it is more secure to not open a message and let the user decide if they should open it or not. You can get clues within the message headers if it is potentially dangerous or not by reading the subject and seeing which email address it came from. Stop moaning will you!?

May be the reason why I'll leave Protonmail, this missing feature kills the productivity.

Please develop a feature to allow repeated email deletes w/o having to return to the email inbox after each email. There is a lot I like ProtonMail but the lack of that is a dealbreaker keeping me from relying on ProtonMail as my primary email. It is way too cumbersome to review emails and make retain/delete decisions.

Delete or Archive as well. Such a convenient feature that makes me miss Gmail for now!

I agree - this would save a lot of time after deleting/archiving the message you're reading.

I was surprised the web mail app also did not auto select the next email when deleting an email. This is definitely not useful. Please auto-select the next email. Most modern mail apps do this, both web, desktop and even mobile. Thanks!

This is one of the most glaring omissions - a basic feature simply missing for years and years.

I can't believe this very basic feature is missing, I'm wasting so much time and more clicks means my hand hurts even more.
I'm really trying to reduce the number of clicks I do every day otherwise I might not be able to work anymore because of the pain.

Proton Mail is simply doing it wrong by ignoring this users' request

This is exactly how Apple Mail does it and it's great. One of the reasons the web UI feels clunky and outdated in comparison.

Concur with Philippe D.'s commends from May 06, 2019. This affects default conversation view and it would be very nice to have the selection of settings he mentions. Currently deleting a conversation, read or unread, in row view is effectively the "Go back to the threadlist" option. In column view, it is similar, it just shows no conversations are selected.

Come on ProtonMail people, this request, asked multiple times, is 3 years old! can't you add the option in settings ?

I would gladly pay for ProtonMail if it had this feature. I wish that at a minimum there would be a response from ProtonMail as to the future of this feature.
