I agree with everyone in this thread. I have been a user for almost 3 years, and this feature has been "planned" for that duration.
It is really frustrating to not be able to find emails I need, especially, when it comes to reservations or concert tickets.I was told that this is due to end to end encryption, but at the very least, you can search through the emails that have been downloaded locally on your device.
I can't in good conscience recommend Protonmail to anyone until this is working.

Come on guys!
I am using Protonmail as the place for bookkeeping emails, not knowing how USELESS the "search" is.
This is 2021, and this lack of adequate search (not the Bridge) is a BIG problem. -

I've moved all my mail off of Google to Protonmail... desperately need this feature just to keep myself sane!

Improving the "search" function on ProtonMail

This is urgently needed, and should be at the very top of the feature list.
I'm a paying user and because I'm still waiting for this to be implemented, I find myself regretting my subscription every time I have to comb through my emails manually to find the single one I need. I can't believe we're still waiting for this. Please prioritize this, Proton people!
I can't in good conscience recommend Protonmail to anyone until this is working.

Searching for an elusive email is pretty hopeless, The search engine doesn't seem to do much of a word search. Looking this morning for an email where a friend mentions their motel, no results appeared but when I painstakingly went through his emails I eventually found it and the word motel appeared three times in the message and once in my reply yet the search engine failed to find it.

Yeah, this is such a basic function of email that I can't believe it's not implemented in PM. This really has got to happen!

To be clear, the capability that would be most useful is to be able to search all e-mails (perhaps within a specified date range) to identify and view any e-mails containing the search terms that have been entered.

This is ESSENTIAL, for email text and calendar entries.

YES. Where are you, ProtonMail?

It’s absurd that this has not been implemented in 5 years.
1. Protonmail bills itself as a Gmail alternative. Google’s/Gmail’s strength is search.
2. Email text search is possible for encrypted emails (Tutanota has already done it)
3. Without searchable emails and calendar entries, how are we supposed to use PM for business? how can I search back to the last interactions with my clients?Meanwhile PM re-designs and re-designs its GUI and makes pointless features like ProtonDrive, when I can already get encrypted file storage from Tresorit, Sync.com and others. Or I can use Cryptomator for free.
Protonmail’s priorities are an absolute mess and it makes me furious that I’m paying for it. That might not continue if they don’t implement search for email text. It’s absolutely fundamental. Google replacement my a**.

Currently the search engine is only showing results for the recipients and subject.
It would be very useful that would also work in whole mail content. -

Word search for words in the BODY of an email. Just wasted 20 minutes looking in our four email addresses, when the email I was looking for was in our protonmail account all along.

The search function seems to be lacking. If I search for something in the email subject it is fine, but when I try searching for something in the email contents it doesn't seem to work.

This is by far the most urgently needed feature!
