catch-all support for custom domains
With the addition of custom domain support, I really would love the option to have a catch-all email address, as I've been using that feature a LOT on my current/previous hoster.
I vastly prefer that over the account+alias@protonmail.com feature, as using that would require me to change all the places where I used all those other email addresses.

You can now set a catch-all address on custom domains. Thank you for the suggestion!

Can't believe I didn't notice this - apparently this has been available since August 2017. Has anyone tried it yet?

https://protonmail.com/support/knowledge-base/catch-all/The only downside I can think of is you can receive at any address but only send "from" a few addresses at your domain.

I also can't switch to protonmail until this is ready. Come on protonmail. "how hard can it be?"

The catch-all feature released today in v3.10 only makes sense when it's also possible to send emails from any 'address@customdomain.com'. Please give us the option to customize the local part of our 'From'-address directly in the composer. For the IMAP-bridge that will be released in v3.11 please make sure it works with this exact same feature in Thunderbird (first introduced in Thunderbird 45).
Why?
Catch-all functionality allows for assigning a new address@customdomain.com for each organisation you are dealing with. Combined with the option to filter on Envelope-To addresses (part of the Sieve filter language also released in v3.10) you can create *stable* filters for emails you receive from that organisation. With many organisations (e.g. shopping sites) you will only need to receive email. Occasionally however (e.g. you received the wrong product and need to contact the shopping site for a return) sending emails is also necessary. Sending from another address is not an option here because organisations will rightfully ignore any instructions given by other email addresses than those used to register a certain account.

This should absolutely not be a feature only for business users. It's a fundemantal part of protecting private users' privacy because it allows them to generate arbitrary addresses to give to untrusted companies online.
Moreover, Fastmail have had this for many years and it's not tied to any business plan. I absolutely don't understand Protonmail's priorities. This should absolutely NOT be exclusively for business users.

This is a +1 to also add it to 'normal' plus accounts, as this is crucial for the way I use my domain (unique email address for each service/site I use)

Don't tie this to "business" accounts. If you have a custom domain, you need this. This is preventing me from actually switching to protonmail. Now that protonvpn is released, I'd really like to upgrade to visionary but I can't justify spending that kind of money and not actually being able to use half of what I'm paying for.

Great news: this feature is status Planned now.
But: "We will be adding this into a future ProtonMail for Business offering."
Does this include Plus users? They have max 1 custom domain vs. 10 for the Visionary accounts. Would that impact server load too much? Remember that Visionary users pay 'only' 6 times more for roughly 10 times worth of features. -

Protonmail currently generates a new keypair for each alias (and each alias has a separate "inbox" when accessed via IMAP), so adding this functionality may not be easy. But is badly needed.
They need to add some sort of forwarding functionality so *@mydomain can forward to alias@mydomain, thus using alias' keys. These would be receive-only addresses.
This is essential for me with my own domain. I checked my mailbox and have received mail at over 1500 addresses in the last decade. Choosing just 50 is unreasonable.

2168 votes / 3(limit of votes) = 723 people who want this feature
723 people who want this feature * $48 USD/EUR/CHF
yearly(Plus account) = $34704 USD/EUR/CHF
yearly (Approximately)Do you consider this amount of money enough to improve (not create) catch-all support for custom domains? or what do you need Protonmail ?
I really need this feature in Protonmail plus, no visionary, no bussines, plus. -

You have resources and time to create ProtonVPN but you can't improve this feature or maybe, you don't want to and you don't want to tell us, more than 2066 votes, including encryption of all metadata and nothing.
Do you hear us ?
I am very disappoint with protonmail support. Moving to another service. I can't wait more time.
This feature is the most important for me and encryption, of course. -

I also use this feature extensively, and hadn't realised it wasn't available with Protonmail until after I'd paid for a Plus account. Now I've had to move my email back to gmail... :-/

I read this article today: gizmodo.com/judge-breaks-precedent-orders-google-to-give-foreign-e-1792003911.
It's really time to step over, but I cannot do that without the catchall. A few hundred shops have a unique email address at my domain.
I would loose all contact if I had to leave behind the catch all.
Please make it possible. -

I'm trying to move from traditional to secure email. I'm choosing between many options and catch-all support is one essential feature. My email lifestyle requires catch-all functionality.
