Evident that protonmail ignores this forum.
That's nice.

Hello. I like ProtonMail on Android but the white background is dreadful particularly in the evening it is very painful on the eyes!
Is there any way to change this.
Look for example at k9-mail, it lets you chnge the background colour!

Make FONT bigger for recipient email and subject line. It’s way too small and faint.

Use custom css in Settings => Appearance, there should be a box allowing you to modify any element, here is a list of great reference points:
https://github.com/csalmeida/protonmail-themes/tree/master/Themes
If you need help picking complimentary colors that look good together, Adobe Color Wheel is an excellent resource also:
https://color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel/
Hope this helps!

Please,.please add a dark theme or even better enable custoisation for the apps. Current app is too hard to read and also can't zoom email header making email addresses really difficult to rea as well. It's the only limitation that stop me from upgrading my account and I am waiting to see if protonmail or tutanota comes out with an app with the best colours. That's the service I will move all of my mail to.

Be able to open two email addresses on mobile app.

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but with the move towards OLED screens (like iPhone X), a ***** theme would be much easier on the battery since most of the screen would technically be off in the ***** areas!

I have no advice for those on desktops with Mac or Windows, but for Android users, you may want to try a blue light filter. Outlook's white background is even worse than that of Protonmail, and instead of having to set up a theme to work with every app which was mindlessly created with only one background color, I customized a blue light filter that I downloaded from Google Play. Some of them are junk, but I found two or three good ones. The one I use is called "Night Shift Blue Light Filter for Migraine." No longer am I squinting into the tablet on which I typed this.

As one anonymous user commented, themes are done via CSS. For ready made themes, check ProtonMail's tumblr blog - http://protonmail.tumblr.com/
Once you have a theme you like, copy the corresponding CSS and log into ProtonMail.
Go to Settings > Appearance,
scroll down and paste your CSS into the Custom Theme box. Click Save.
To revert, click on the Reset Theme button.If you are using Chrome/Chromium, you can alternatively use the Hacker Vision extension[0], which is the best extension I've found to reduce glare and make staring at a screen in the dead of night. There is a small annual subscription fee ($2.99), but there is a free one year trial.

This css is quite good, few tweaks I added for night mode
/* Copy this line into ProtonMail's custom theme box: */
@import url("https://austindelamar.com/pm-theme/themes/pm-dark-theme.css");.pm_buttons .pm_buttons-child {
background-color: var(--theme3);
color: var(--theme1)
}.contactList-item-name {
color: black
}.pm_buttons .pm_buttons-child:hover {
color: var(--theme2);
background-color: var(--theme3);

I agree as well. In my senior years I am finding a white background very difficult even with the brightness cranked down on my laptop. White is just so in your face errrr eyes.

Yes I agree. I would much rather use a dark theme with a choice of text style and color.

YES, I have been wanting this since I first used protonmail.
