Matrix integration
The matrix protocol is going to displace email.
If protonmail wants to stay(become very) relevant, they should look
for ways to bridge their email platform to the matrix platform.
See matrix.org to find out about your next communication protocol.

As a dedicated user of proton email service. It has come to my attention that adding the Matrix protocol would be an invaluable addition to the suite of communication tools provided by Proton.
Matrix is an open protocol providing decentralized and secure communications, similar in purpose and design philosophy to what emails represent. This decentralization resonates with what the core of our digital communication should stand on - unbound freedom and uncompromised security. Just like how users choose their email providers without limiting who they can reach, conversations conducted via Matrix give full control back into users' hands.
The market for reliable Matrix service providers is currently experiencing expansion, indicative of a growing demand from privacy-conscious users around the world. This means there's a significant opportunity here for Proton to bring forth their brand forward into new territories while reinforcing its strong stance towards empowering people through safeguarding online communicative freedom.
Thank you very much for considering this proposition, hoping it resonates strongly with your future plans.
Best,

I'm using Matrix for 5+ years and for the past 3 or so years running a self-hosted matrix server on small VPS with my friends. Now, we're looking into migrating into some matrix as a service platform.
EMS has become quite expensive as it aims for enterprise customers and leaving matrix.org and Element One.If Proton would start offering chat.proton(or whatever) sign-ups for monthly/yearly fee, with optional bridges (small fee per bridge), I would strongly evaluate using it.
Thanks

I'm interested in both (1) matrix bridge (notification, send, receive, ...) and (2) regular matrix node (like @username:proton.me)

I would like to see ProtonMail have a new service called ProtonMatrix or something along that line. I see no need for ProtonMail to make a desktop or mobile app for a Matrix service since Element and many other clients will do the trick and they all support end-to-end encryption.
If ProtonMail makes a website and allows people to signup to their matrix service which is stored in the mountains of Switzerland, that is good enough for me and they can add feature to their matrix service overtime.
I think a good domain name would be protonmatrix.com and protonmatrix.ch and they could use pm.me as their short domain name for matrix addresses.

i already live in matrix, due it being only efficient communication platform. would love to have my protonmail bridged there too for people, who still communicates through this ancient protocol.
