Swipe to next/previous email on Android
I think a nice feature to have which is already seen in at least the gmail app on Android is the ability to swipe to the next/previous mail while reading. Say I'm reading my email's and I want to read the next one. The way I have to do this now is by pressing back and then opening the next mail. It would be a lot more comfortable to be able to just swipe from left to right to read the next mail or swipe from right to left to read the previous one.

Copilot seems to think that Proton Mail has this feature, but I can't find it. Does anybody know the process of where to go in the settings of Proton Mail so that this feature can be turned on, if indeed there actually is a feature, which I can't find?

This is critical. This happens for most email services, where you've read an email, you delete it, and the next one pops up. I don't understand why ProtonMail hasn't done this. This should be a no-brainer for any basic email interface. And if the feature is there, I can't find it. I also agree with people who said that this feature exists on free apps, and I'm paying for this app, so why am I not getting this basic no-brainer feature that should be on your email service?

I just don't understand it, I just don't.
This is not just a nice feature but a must have feature. ALL mail clients have this function but Proton puts energy in other really important features.
I will move all my mail to proton including domain mail when this feature is available.
Again .. I just don't understand -

@Proton
Could someone from Proton please explain what is hindering the "swipe to next/previous mail" implementation on the smartphone app. I, for one, don't understand why this is an issue (still) in 2025. I wonder how many users stop using Protonmail for this blatantly missing functionality without ever voicing their frustration (only 159 votes?).
Maybe I'm missing something in the config?

Please see the BlueMail App concerning swiping functionalities. I really use this function a lot to switch to new mails.

Seems trivial to implement but impactful for UX.

Desperately needed. Please make this happen ASAP!

Swiping would be the best, but like a previous user said, even a next/previous button would work. This is really basic stuff, c'mon Proton!

So badly needed. Please implement this!!

I don't understand why this is (still) a feature/nice to have .
All mail clients ( on android ) have this feature. Also I would love to move my domain mail to proton but without this feature it is too much hassle to go from one open mail to another and therefor I won't be migrating my domain mail to proton

Without this option I don't believe I will continue to consider Proton for my email.

The fact that this feature exists on literally every free email app, yet this paid service does not have this crucial app design for user experience is a huge kick in the face.

On the Android mail app, when I read a mail, it is not possible to slide from right to left, to go to the next mail received. It would save me so much time !!

Please!!! It is so cumbersome to return to the message list to get to the next or previous message!

On Android, on other mail clients (like Aqua Mail) once you open an e-mail you can swipe left and right to switch to next or previous mails in the same folder. That is a fast way how you can swipe through multiple new e-mails that you want to read without needing to go back to the list of e-mails in the folder.

Please implement this feature! Every other major email app on Android allows for swiping between messages/threads.

I could even live with a button for next mail.

iOS has apparently had this for nine months now.this really is the biggest thing keeping me from full on switching over to proton from gmail
