Make the column widths adjustable.
When in Column layout, please make the column widths adjustable. I don't need the sidebar and message to be as wide as they are and I do need the message text area to be wider because text is often cut off.

In Column layout mode, the middle column (which lists the names of the emails you have received, sent, etc...) is WAY TOO WIDE and takes away from the valuable space of the message area. Compare Proton to Outlook mail for proper column width. Several Proton subscribers have requested you make the columns adjustable, but when you read their full complaint, that is just so they can narrow the center (names) column. So I think just narrowing the center column would be sufficient. Thank You!

By this I mean, a la Roundcube, Thunderbird, etc - where you can pick and choose more columns to add. You might need a different primary font for this to happen. Column headers like: 'To:', 'Flag', 'priority', etc.

The WIDTH of existing column layout to be adjustable.
Presently it is fixed, it occupies excessively large area of the screen real estate on my 13 inch laptop computer. -

Horgix !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe they could put in a couple settings, sliders maybe, so people could easily change this and other panel sizes.
You SERIOUSLY have no idea how happy I am right now. I completely moved over here from Gmail recently and not being able to read the complete folder names was a huge issue for me.
Again, Can't thank you enough.,

Regarding the width of the left panel, it's possible to change it with custom CSS (Settings > Appearance > Custom theme).
By default, the width is 190px; you can set it to 250px for example with this CSS:
#ptSidebar { width: 250px }
body #pm_main { width: calc(100% - 250px) }It should also be possible to do something similar for the droplist when assigning labels/folders.

When applying an existing label or moving a conversion to a folder, make the lists of labels & folders wider so that much more of the names can be seen for easier selection.
Also, enable the width of the left panel width to be adjusted for the same reason. -

Actually, extend this concept to all 3 panes (folder list, message list and message viewer). In my case, my folder names exceed the width of the left pane.

While in split view mode add a control for setting/changing the percentage of screen/frame uses. Where the combination of the header list and reading pane == 100% thereby ajusting the reading pane to 70% the header pane also adjusts to 30% of the space alotted to both. With this setting I can accommodate troublesome emails that won't display properly.

ADJUSTABLE WINDOW PANES so that l so that I can see more of my message/less of my inbox list on narrow screens. Currently the inbox list is not adjustable and I frequently have to scroll left and right to see my whole email when I'm on my 13" MacBook Pro

This is really a bug or design flaw, which is that the leftmost column of the Inbox is too narrow to display all but the shortest item names, such as defaults like:
Inbox
Drafts
Sentor even
Folders/Labels
But longer or multi-word Folder or Label names get cut off and are not visible. It is not possible to see the remainder of the word(s).
For example, Folder or Label names like these:
ProtonMail News
ProtonMail Supportare too long to be displayed and get cut off.
With certain words this makes it impossible to see what the actual name is (without hovering over it).
This bug/design flaw also blocks viewing of the message counter that normally shows how many messages are under each folder or label.
This is a serious flaw that significantly degrades usability for longer Folder or Label names.
Hopefully it can be fixed soon :)

Users should be allowed to clck and drag column widths.

really, why anything more than 10 char sender, 10 char of subject and 10 char date

Allow user to click and drag (to suit) the preferred widths of the message list column versus the message content column.

I like the column layout however, the email I'm reading is cut off on the right-hand side. There is a scroll bar at the bottom so I could center it, but my suggestion is to move it up to the top of the email so you don't have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the email before we even read it, then scroll back up to read it.

I´d like the possibilites to resize the columns in the layout. That would give the user the choice to freely choose the size for the different windows :)

Perhaps a link to enlarge the text box for composing (body) like a pop up of sorts (similar to gmail), or just a wider middle column so that the compose (body) box is larger and person can view more of the composed message at one time. This box is especially too small if CC and BCC are used. It seems taking space from the column with the attachments, expiration time, and encryption check box would help with this issue. Or a way to collapse portions of the view that are taking up too much space.
