Send As (from external address - Add support for EXTERNAL SMTP servers in apps)
It would be nice to be able to send an email as a different address.
Google has a feature like this. So I can send from my schools .edu account from inside my personal gmail.

Hello,
I recently got a premium subscription, hoping not only to import my emails to proton, but also be able to sent emails from these email addresses that I do not own the domains (e.g. gmail - work emails).
Import was working somehow + usually forwarding, although not ideal. But not having the ability to sent was a major feelbad. This is critical for me to have my emails in 1 secure place and not use any other client/service.
(+ Maybe IMAP as well to automatically import new from providers that doesn't forward)
If a competitor would have similar security/client & would be able to do it, I would switch. I hope instead to get such a feature in proton.

The lack of this feature is the only reason I'm not switching completely to Proton. Alone in the migration process it is helpful. It also allows older and less important accounts to continue to operate.

Being able to "Send As" from one of the domains I have forwarded to ProtonMail would be extremely convenient.
Even more convenient—and important—would be if the "Unsubscribe" feature would automatically use the address to which an email was sent. Sending an "Unsubscribe" request from an address that is not on the mailing list is unproductive.

It would also be nice to specify "send as" with an alias (`+` SMTP feature).
My address is something@protonmail.com , sometimes I subscribe to websites with the email "something+websitename@protonmail.com" to track future spam. But sometimes they ask me to email them from my account's email, and I can't do that.

Any chance of this at any point?

This feature would allow me to move some but not all domain accounts to Protonmail by forwarding the moved ones to Protonmail and using this feature to send as that address. Other domain addresses could still be forwarded to Gmail etc. as they are today.

I also need this feature for various online services like forum or website administration.

It sucks to see this is still not implemented.

Like many users, this is the last missing tool that prevents me from moing all my mail to Protonmail

Yes, exactly what I need. No encryption at all for this feature, just be able to send mail from PM with another smtp.

I have to rely on Gmail to be able to send as my educational mail. I'm considering switching to another mail service that includes this feature.

This is a great idea and does NOT need to be encrypted. I just need external apps to be able to use my email to send mails. When I receive replies they will be stored encrypted and I can then respond via the protonmail web application.

i'm pretty sure this would be impossible, since how would your emails be encrypted in your pm mailbox? which public key is pm supposed to use to encrypt the stored copy? the address doesn't actually exist if you use an external smtp to send from it, so protonmail can't store keys for it.
this one seems like a non-starter

Yes, please. This is the last feature I need to move to payed version. I need to use at least one external smtps !

Yes, I also have a school .edu email alias that I'm actively using. This is the only lack of feature preventing me from switching to protonmail as my main email service provider. Please support it.

This is not possible at all, I want your mail for my CS-CART, I bought the full version of your application today, I started looking for SMTP, but I could not find it, I wasted my time and money. How can I use your service in my CS-cart as smtp?
I support the idea, because there is no SMTP, then I return to Google (GMAIL

It would be awesome to be able to send PGP encrypted email from my Gmail account without
any hassle.
