I totally agree! The bridge is rather inconvenient. I would much prefer a dedicated desktop app so I don't have to have Protonmail open in my browser all the time. It would also be great if it would allow for notifications to show up when a PC is in locked mode.

Instead of using the bridge which might prove to be a little bit of a hassle for new users, a ProtonMail Desktop App would be more convenient for users and allow ProtonMail to have more room for expansion through the use of the desktop app. ProtonMail Desktop App would be very convenient for checking your mail on the internet without the need for opening a new tab in your browser and maybe could run in your system tray to allow for notifications and alerts for when you receive emails/chats.

It is useful to be notified that I've got new mail without entering the web app.

As proton have mail and are releasing calendar, contacts and drive, it would be great with a single application for desktop to access all these things instead of a webpage. I know about the bridge app, but I would rather have an application from proton, then use office.

What about the basic Microsoft "Mail" client? Could this be supported by Bridge as well?

We need something like the Mailplane app (MacOS) for Gmail where you can open multiple tabs with mail, calendar, contacts for multiple accounts and work with them as a desktop app while essentially wrapping the web interface. I don't like the way typical desktop clients force you to use their interface and compromise the design language and functionality that the web interface provides. Presently hunting around for the open browser tab with Proton Mail and constantly having to sign in again makes the service very cumbersome to use on the desktop. Please take a look at mailplaneapp.com and do that for ProtonMail. Thanks.

Please Create a desktop that does not use proton bridge, because I need premium, which kinda sucks. When I try to get notifications, I find that I have to keep my browser running in the background, which uses up my computers internet connection for other things.

Is there any update on this feature? As well, on Windows 10 can this please be implemented as a UWP Microsoft Store app (they are more secure, allow use on Windows 10X as well as x86/x64/ARM PCs). Thanks!

For an encrypted email provider a real desktop client is needed. I would like it to be like electronmail except electronmail is a web browser that connects to mail.protonmail.com. I would like an official open source protonmail desktop app that looked and had all the features the web client had without it being a web browser container.

I would love to see you create a Protonmail app for Windows desktop just like ProtonVPN.
It would be great to be able to install to my computer and have it active in the background, possibly along with seeing it in the system tray. That way I don't need to open a browser and login in the traditional way. Furthermore receiving a Windows notification when I receive an email and then just opening up the app for quick access to my emails. -

Why not start a collaboration with Mozilla Thunderbird instead? You share the same set of values, thus it will save you a lot of work (and increase devlopmeent speed because you may focus on other things).

i already bought ProtonMail to get the bridge and I am happy to pay for the service. Nevertheless I Standalone client - Along with the iOS App (or even better the beta with support of two Protonmail Accounts) is really a thing you should strongly consider. You can also consider to sell it via the MacOS Appstore :)
Thank you so much.

i like the bridge client but it misses many unique features offered by protonmail such as PGP integration, password emails to outside protonmail users, read receipts and so on.
if they could take the website login and make it into an app with multiple account logins and the ability to read emails offline, then protonmail will be mostly complete.

Criptext has a good desktop email client. I would like to see one for ProtonMail which is like the ProtonMail web client but as a desktop app and have all the features that can be done on the web client in the desktop client.

Electronmail is what I use but I would like an official app from protonmail which has all the bells and whiles that the web client offers but as a desktop app.
