Sync contacts with phone address book
Sync the Protonmail contacts with the phone address book (contacts app) and vice versa.

This is the only feature holding me up within the gmail environment.
A good compromise between privacy and usability would be some sync rules / exception management on contact level or field level. -

Hello. I am also a paying customer of ProtonMail. I would very much like to see this feature added above all else. I know that these contacts will not be private, but it will help us get away from Google. Thank you.

I will switch to Proton Mail if this feature is implemented in the near future.

This has been "planned" since January 10, 2019? It's 2023!

How is it that no rep from Proton takes time to respond to any of these hundreds of comments / thousands of votes? Sad.

I actually just bought Proton Unlimited and kind of expected that I'd be able to migrate my mail, calendars and contacts completely to proton. I'm quite disappointed that this feature is not implemented. I'd be happy with a one-way sync from Proton to iCloud or iPhone memory, though I'd prefer if I could continue using the native app to edit contacts as well.

Please make this happen!

When will this be really implemented and not simply stay as a "to do" on a "to do list" ?

This is absurd, how can you even sell subscriptions while not having this core feature

Almost 5 years, wow... Be it a separate Proton Contacts app, a provider implementation for the Mail app or some kind of manual procedure to be able to sync the contacts back and forth, this functionality is a must-have.

Oh holy sh$%!
I was just about to buy the premium and started to talk to everyone who is interested or not about Proton but this changes everything now.Sorry guys, but as long as basic contact sync is not available I just can’t switch over.

I was just about to signup for the Proton Unlimited for my business and move from Google Workspace, when I thought to look into the Contacts side of my business, which all my clients' information are stored through Google Contacts and Email, and I stumbled upon the syncing issue.
The lack of synchronisation between my phone (new contacts adding in) and the Proton Contacts is prohibiting me to go ahead with the move to Proton Unlimited.Hopefully in the near future Proton team with implement a sync solution for this matter.
Thank you in advance.

I just read the article about the Dad in SF that had his Google account taken away and he realized all the data he lost. This has reignited my desire to stop using any service provided by Google and I have leaned on my contacts syncing with my GMail for years. In addition to the idea of Google potentially scraping your address book and being a legitimate privacy matter.
I wouldn't complain about seeing this "Planned" feature have an update in an upcoming email.

It's absolute madness that Proton does not have a solution for syncing contacts between address book and telephone. I mainly pay for the VPN which still has some value for me, even if I prefer Windscribe these days, but no address book sync (preference C
CardDAV actually tested to work with Macs and iPhones) is a reason to drop all Proton services. Or on the contrary to start to use the email services and really commit to Proton.PS. I've tried Fruux (calendars work, contacts don't) NextCloud and etesync and the others and they all have their issues, currently don't have working sync. Mainly the issues are on Apple's side but it's up to the provider to work around them. Proton could get a lot of points by doing this.

I just signed up to paid service and trying to move away from Outlook but found contacts is basically useless on PM.
Outlook I can edit and sync on desktop, web or Android contacts app and sync instantly with no work needed.
Until PM sorts this out I can't ditch Outlook just for the contacts. -

This has been a request since 2017?! Having a seamless cloud backup sync for contacts is a basic feature since the invention of smartphones. What is Proton doing not having such a basic feature?

Hi,
is there any news here?
This would be a very important feature to securely store my contacts and delete my Google account. I don't want to put a third party provider in between. Thank you. -

Any updates on this? Not being able to sync contacts prevents me from both moving to ProtonMail and recommending it. Relying on a 3rd party for sync or having 2 contact list isn't really a solution.
