Dark mode
I'd like to see a dark mode for the email UI, both app and for the browser. Goes a long way as a quality of life feature.

Hi,

Am still keen
Cannot understand why this such a low priority
Its one of two reasons why I am not a paid subscriber
the second is inability to sort by sender -

WoW, this post is from 2019 and we still don't have dark mode on Android. How disappointing.

Android still doesn't have a dark mode? I've been waiting years to upgrade and transition to Proton Mail but I'm starting to think if you can't even handle an update to dark mode for mobile after years of requests I really don't think I can trust be your team with security and other more important updates.

I agree, I’d like to see the app more closely resemble the UI/X of the browser. It has a very different vibe and I prefer the browser version.

Dark mode should be a standard feature on all iOS and Android apps...not sure why users have to beg for it.

I need this dark mode to convince my wife to use PM instead of (spit!) GMail. Please give us a dark mode on iOS!

Have been a standard user with 1 account for 3 weeks using the web portal by browser on PC. I was about to make this same feature request when I viewed it had already been done here. I love the color theme of ProtonMail (shades of Purple). My eyesight is perfect, need nor use any vision wear (glasses/contacts) yet find the print throughout the email portal to be extremely difficult to view due to the use of pastel/pale shade of colors, both purple and black. So much so that I zoom the print to 200% to be able to comfortably read. Have looked but not found a way to adjust settings to darken print.

This feature is needed for iOS app immediately. It’s hard to state how valuable dark mode is. A true dark mode that shows everything in dark mode so
reading newsletters is the same as using a reader app like Instapaper in dark mode. -

I agree! Plus Ten. Dark Mode with white text on black background would be excellent, both in android app and IOS app and browser. The white background with grey fonts makes things really hard to read. I know many people (at least in the comments below) are looking for a black background in the message body window, not just the controls. We understand that this might have be to be staged. One app first, the other app second, and browser third? Please no more grey on grey... Thanks for a great product!

This feature says it's been started but I've been following the betas for a while now and I haven't seen any hint that dark mode is being added to the iOS app. This is where it matters the most for me. Can someone please confirm if an iOS dark mode is in progress?
Also, I agree with other posters. The font choice and spacing on iOS is completely illegible. It needs to follow the Apple style guides. You can pretty much copy Apple's Mail app layout and font choices for good UX.

I just tried the beta web app. The default / light mode is improved in terms of contrast. Dark mode is terrible. Milky dark grey background only on the controls which use a light grey for fonts and icons. Very little contrast. The most pointless part is that the reading pane background is off white with a dark text just like the regular non dark mode. I want to get away from GMail, but their app is so much better visually. Is it feasible to put proton bridge on iOS, so I can use another email client? I'm sure there will be folks that want the opposite of what I do

I find the iOS app fonts and color scheme too hard to read. Dark mode would be somewhat helpful. More contrast between text and background is needed regardless of mode. Fonts need to be resizable either in app or support dynamic resizing from iOS accessibility. I do have some visual impairment and it's almost a deal breaker

Plus the latest version for 10 is "3.16.49" but the win8 version is "4.0.0 beta 33"
wondering why?? -

Great minds think alike! As a new user getting acquainted with ProtonMail, I feel like I've gone blind! I would think a simple adjustment, either make the font navy blue on a white background or a navy background with white font, would not negatively impact the quality of the design. I have the free version, so if the upgrade allows me to do this, it would be worth it. Thanks for your consideration.

I hope this can be delivered soon. It seems to be part of an industry-wide problem: Somehow, developers have been convinced that small, light colored type against a bright white background makes for easy reading. Beats me.

Yes, I use ProtonMail Plus and seem to not be able to simply change the look (colors) of my inbox. I think I can write CSS but it should be as simple as the click of a button. My eyes require dark mode when possible. It would be a great help.
