I agree totally. The bright white pages wash out a lot of lettering and make it hard for tired old eyes to focus. Display adjustability would help tremendously.

I noticed in the ProtonMail web BETA that the folder colors have been removed. It would be a great addition to at least allow the user to control this setting to enable the original folder colors (both in the left sidebar as in the 'All Mail' overview)

Switchable dark mode for PC and Droid in the message area just like your sidebar please/ Same thing as Win10 OS & Outlook. Everyone will be happy then.

It should be extremely easy to implement, with just a few UI parameter changes and a On/Off button in the settings. I don't understand why so many clients are losing their minds over this. It's not like the entire dev team will spend a month implementing this.

Dark mode has not any business value add. If you going forward with your strategy and do not developing tools for business user like private chat, video, mail client for Mac etc. I will cancel my Visionary subscription. I will not pay 288 CHF per year for useless function.

Dark mode please. I hate the shocking whte in the face all the time. It's such a simple request but still the developers at Proton seem they can't do it, or maybe they just will not do it.

Because of my vision impairment, I require a dardd mode with the background black, the font white. My Chrome add on app doesn't work on ProtonMail. Can you recommend a night mode app that works with PM. Thanks.

👎👎👎 It's disheartening to see a trivial request get so much user attention.
I recommend to both the Proton Team and fellow users that we support a focus on the pioneering solutions like the integration of encrypted contacts and calendar on mobile, especially given status quo have had these "expected features" since the dawn of the smartphone. Dark mode is new, cool, and adored by the tech community, but without mobile feature parity for the rest of the suite, I won't be paying for dark mode next year.

If you use Opera they have a toggle-able dark mode plug in that extends to web pages. IMHO best browser to use.

Would vote for dark mode in the android app, but I use a custom dark theme I grabbed form somebody's github and works well for me on PC.

Had recently a look at ProtonMail current Beta version and observed that the default theme is still presented with this invasive dark color in the folders and menus bars, which makes them illegible.

This is causing (me) a visual discomfort, to the point that, after a few minutes, one has crying eyes, so much effort is needed to adapt.

Hope this default theme will be revisited so it comes with a softer and well-balanced appearance, respectful of the users' eyesight.

It does not call into question the implementation of a separate full dark mode for those who like and would opt for it... but since both themes should be optional, the default one has to be reworked in a singular way for those who cannot get used to an unmitigated black color and might consider it as a show stopper.

I recieved an email from Protonmail anouncing a dark mode in beta. Logged in, and what a dissapointment! If the background of the emails I'm reading is white, then that's not a dark mode!
Also, for the web version, I've got browser extensions that work. The real dark mode is needed in the app.
Is it that hard to implement? Or to understand what people are asking for?
We don't need blacker edges, just want to read without feeling pain in my eyes.

This has been the ONLY issue keeping me from upgrading. Why should I pay if I struggle to read?

dark mode for classic theme please. new (beta) theme looks like a lot of gmail. Current web interface is more classy.
