Set Proton Mail as default mail application on Windows
Make it possible for Proton Mail desktop application to be selected as the default email application so when you press email links it opens the Proton Mail app instead of the Windows one or the browser version.

Very important for my wife.... important for me as it's a very convenient function in Windows.

Prefereably during the installation process, it should ask to become the default mail client and associate itself with all available extensions it can handle in Apps > Default apps > Choose default apps by file type.

The Windows app (1.0.5) does not install possibility to link MAILTO from browsers to app.
There has been made one option to put into each browser but that leeds to the Proton webmail - not the standalone app.
Unfortunately Win11 does not let you refer to an app that has not put such feature in the registry database (ProtonURL or Proton_mailto or something like that).
This means mail adresses on websites has to be copy/pasted into a new mail instead of just opening a new mail box in the app upon clicking the address link.

I will expand on this. It needs to be a Windows store app to make it easier to associate in Apps > Default apps. Additionally, during the installation process, it should ask to become the default mail client and associate itself with all available extensions it can handle in Apps > Default apps > Choose default apps by file type.
Finally, I'd like to see a badge on the taskbar icon when unread mails are received. Better would be that badge displaying the number of un-read e-mails.
