Proper Desktop App for macOS
The current state of the Desktop App (v1.1.2) for macOS (Sequoia) is in a very sad state. Actually, I currently see no point in using this "App". Why? Because the App makes exactly no effort for proper integration into the system.
My key pain-points are:
Receiving new mails with the Proton Mail window closed creates a notification in the macOS Notification Center. However, when clicking on such a notification, nothing happens.
Similarly, it is possible to set Proton Mail as default mail client, but whenever I click on a mail-link, nothing happens. Instead, Proton Mail should open the composer window with recipient address pre-filled.
Automatic re-opening Proton Mail App on a system reboot does not work. Proton Mail is started, but the resulting window is empty, without any content. One has to close and reopen Proton Mail by hand.
Then there is this annoying "Uninstall Proton Mail" menu item and even more annoying: an Application bundle in my Applications folder, that gets recreated when deleted. What purpose does this have? To constantly remind (paying) customers to delete the App? I think macOS users are able to figure out how to remove Applications.
BTW: why are there two "Quit Proton Mail" menu items? One properly in the Application menu and another one in the File menu? This macOS, not Windows.
To finish this little rant: please make a proper App. The current one is a waste of resources.
