Extra fields to include the reading of the names of Japanese and Chinese contacts
Since Japanese and Chinese names are typically written using logographs, Chinese characters, called kanji or hànzì, it’s sometimes hard to remember how all the names are read, especially in Japanese where the same logographs sequence can be read in multiple ways. This can even become quite arbitrary for first names.
It would be useful to add extra fields to keep track of the "reading" of each name. In Japan, it’s typical for websites and other official forms to ask for both the name as it is written officially, and furigana to describe using hiragana or katakana how the names should actually be read. iOS contact app handles this with extra "furigana" fields:
- Last name
- Last name (furigana)
- First name
- First name (furigana)
Maybe these fields could be hidden unless a Chinese character is detected?
