  1. Right Click / Context Menu to copy email links on web / desktop

When I'm about to click a link in an email I often copy it in to the browser I want, or hoverer it to check for phishing links. This isn't possible in ProtonMail Web or Mac.

  2. Swipe left to delete on iOS

It would be nice to be able to swipe left on the iPhone app to delete an email without having to go into the email to do it. At the moment, swiping left only allows you to archive the email, if a second option could be added when swiping left to also delete, that would be greatly appreciated.

  3. Import via Easy Switch: Option to designate Folder or apply filter to save time & CPU cycles, too!

When importing a single email account via Easy Switch, please consider adding the option to create a new folder (or designate an existing folder) as the destination for the account that is being imported. A related option would be to have the ability to apply a filter to what is being imported to route the imported 'conversations' to the desired folder. Currently, after the import has completed, the user needs to create a filter (and choose "apply filter to existing emails") to move all the imported 'conversations' (that were tagged with the label assigned during the import set-up) to the…

  4. SimpleLogin reverse alias formatting in ProtonMail Android app

The ProtonMail web app lets you send emails using the formatted SimpleLogin reverse alias, for example "Proton | contact at proton.me" <uuid@simplelogin.co>. This is the format that you get when you copy a reverse alias from the SimpleLogin Android app.

This makes it much easier to keep track of who your emails were sent to, rather than just having uuid@simplelogin.co.

The Android app doesn't let you send emails using the formatted reverse alias, and it would be great to see this fixed so we can easily identify the recipient of an email, even if we're using the…

  5. Allow to edit 'From' field

Created a login at walmart.com with passmail alias

Created an order and got an error message that said to contact accountreview@customercare.walmart.com

I clicked on it, it brought up a PM email with one of my PM aliases in the From field.

Since the domain name I'm sending to doesn't match the one in Pass, I wanted to change 'From' address to the passmail alias. But I can't.

I like PM and it's my primary email now, but Thunderbird's ability to change the From address would be good here.

  6. Hiding addressee email address from URL

Sending mail to another Proton Mail user uses E2E encryption, which is nice. Although the key validation mechanism(?) contains steps calling different APIs within the proton environment, and such HTTP requests contain the email address of the addressees, therefore it is exposed and logged in case your company inspects TLS.

    Example key validation flow:

    mail.proton.me/api/core/v4/keys/all?Email=username@proton.me&InternalOnly=0
    mail.proton.me/api/kt/epochs
    mail.proton.me/api/kt/v1/epochs/2464/proof?Identifier=username@proton.me&Revision=2
    mail.proton.me/api/kt/v1/epochs/2464/proof?Identifier=username@proton.me&Revision=1
    mail.proton.me/api/contacts/v4/contacts/emails?Email=username@proton.me

Can you please consider hiding the email address in the requests?

    Thank you.

  7. Very basic sentinel for proton mail plus

Add one or possibly two stripped down features of proton sentinel to proton mail plus. If the user wants the full sentinel package, then they would need to upgrade to unlimited.

  8. Better "Spam, block, and allow lists"

The current UI/UX for the "Spam, block, and allow lists" make it very difficult to manage them as the lists grow over time. We urgently need a more streamlined and easier way to manage those lists.

For instance, my Spam list is currently 32 pages long, while my Block and Allow lists are 6 and 12 pages long, respectively, with multiple email addresses on the Spam list already covered, on a domain level, on the Block list.

  9. Count of duplicates after import

Currently, if a folder being imported into Proton has the same email twice (can at least happen with Outlook, where you can copy emails to folders in classic Windows client), they are silently discarded. If one is to compare the numbers of emails in source and Proton, though, they will get a mismatch. Having at least count of those duplicates in the final report after export will be helpful. Even better is to copy those duplicates still, but with a label "Duplicate" or something like that.

  10. Return to mail after calendar

Right now when you click "Open in Proton Calendar" button in Windows Mail app, you can't get back to the mail app from the opened screen. You need to re-open it. Which is not convenient.

  11. signing in choices

When signing into Proton, and I am presented with the choice of E-mail, Drive, etc. I want a setting made available to me in my account / profile whereby I can apply a primary default which is then applied when I sign into my account thereby not having to chose each time I sign in. (too many clicks)

  12. Search for Label

There's already a lot of suggestions of people trying to make more use of labels. On Gmail, I was able to associate emails with a project (following the GTD method) by applying a label to them, but this also requires fast access to the label, ideally from the search bar.

    To reproduce:
    1. Have a label called "project-123"
    2. Have an email with the title "Important Information regarding Project 123" in your archive with this label
    3. Type "project-123" into the web/mobile search bar and search

Expected: "Important Information regarding Project 123" shows up in the search results
    Actual: Empty…

  14. Provide a log of forwarded email

A simple log in the email settings context that can show the email (not the whole email) just the msg details - sender, recipient, forwarding target, date/time, etc in a simple 1-line format - would be extremely helpful for those of us managing many user boxes and addresses and needing to be able to know/prove if an email arriving has indeed been forwarded to a foreign box.

  15. Disable email event notification

Currently if I receive event invitations, the default notification is via app and email. I don't want the email notification. For that I need to remove it from every new event manually. Instead, please provide a base setting, that I can turn-off email event notification as default.

  17. Contacts: Add a functional "Correspond From Address" field

Currently, when you open a Contact card and click "Compose", it opens a new e-mail in which the "From:" field is set to the same default e-mail address of your Proton account.

Proposing the addition for a "Correspond From Address" field for individual contacts in which, upon clicking "Compose" on that contact, the From: field will be set to what you had set to that contact card's "Correspond From Address" field.

Right now, you can only sort of fake this by adding a Note in the contact to remind yourself "Contact this person using X address", but you still have…

  18. Suggested contacts

When composing a new message the suggested contacts that appear are useless. It would be much more useful to suggest contacts that are emailed often or previously. It suggests any and all contacts available and makes choosing the intended recipients more difficult than it should be. I send emails to the same person almost daily, but they are never close to the top of the suggestions when I start typing. I'm always having to type almost the full email address before the suggestion list displays the one I'm looking for. Even changing the default email for the individual contacts doesn't…

  20. Remove notifications from system notification area when desktop app is brought into the foreground

    System: Ubuntu 24.04

    TL;DR
Remove all notifications when the desktop app is brought to the foreground

I don't mind getting notifications that I received new email, but I commonly think I have unread mail because the app icon in the Favorites panel continues to show I have unread mail even though I don't.

    • Email comes in
    • Notification displayed; app shows green (1) icon
    • Bring desktop app to foreground
    • Read/delete email
    • App icon still shows 1 unread email because the system notification is still there

I have to manually clear the system notifications to make the app icon indicator go away
