3. Custom country per the webpage/website and app

   Some websites require access from certain country to work and it is annoying to always manually switch the server country while it also changes country for other websites (which may be unwanted).

   To improve this, allow VPN extension user to define per web site (and per app - for a VPN desktop: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932836-proton-vpn/suggestions/50600438-split-tunneling-select-which-app-connects-through ) rules so user can select VPN server country for any defined website/app. Maybe such config. section can be combined with existing "split tunneling" section.

4. Add QUIC Obfuscation for WireGuard

   Add QUIC obfuscation for WireGuard to help users bypass firewalls and censorship. This feature was recently added to Mullvad (September 9, 2025) and would be a great solution that would also address other requests for obfuscation on The Voice of the Proton Community.

5. Access to DirecTV streaming

   While connecting to a US server, it would be a nice addition to have access to the DirecTV streaming service.

   As of now, there's no way to use it for that streaming service.

6. Enable custom VPN profiles & seamless multi‑VPN switching on Android (shared kill‑switch)

   Android only permits one active VPN at a time, which forces me to disconnect Proton VPN whenever I need to use my work OpenVPN or my home WireGuard tunnel. Because the kill‑switch is tied to the active tunnel, I lose protection during each switch.

   What I’d like:

   • Import custom VPN configs (.ovpn / WireGuard .conf) directly in the Proton VPN app and save them as separate profiles.
   • Profile orchestration: let the app switch between Proton, work, and home VPNs without manually closing the current tunnel first.
   • Smart kill‑switch: keep the kill‑switch engaged during the transition, blocking traffic until the newly selected tunnel is fully up.

   Why it matters:

   Allows professionals who need multiple VPNs (corporate, personal, Proton) to stay protected continuously. Provides a unified experience instead of juggling several apps or scripts. Improves security and convenience for Plus/Visionary users who already pay for advanced features.

7. Allow a config file or something similar for use during automated installs during Windows Sandbox spinup.

   Lots of folks use the Included Sandbox with the Windows Pro versions of 10 & 11. They allow scripts to be run to install apps, like Firefox and VPN's among many others during the OS spinup process.
   
   Allowing the .launcher to have the login and password included would be a great feature or maybe a way to drop a file somewhere that had my configuration info in a place to have your launcher pre-populate those fields for launching the vpn app would be extremely helpful. Having to open my PW manager and copy and paste both the username and password each time I spin the sandbox up makes me no always use the VPN. (paid copy) I like using Proton but if some other vendor implements that feature I would have to switch.

8. Toggle option to exclude Smart Routing servers in settings

   For all ProtonVPN clients, there should be a toggle option in Settings that allows you to exclude Smart Routing servers from your connection. Something like:

   "Exclude Smart Routing servers (use only servers physically located in your selected country)"

   When you set up your Default Connection to be in your own country, you may be connected to Smart Routing servers which are physically located in another one and therefore will have worse latency.

   For example:

   A user in Argentina sets their Default Connection to "Argentina" for minimal latency. Without excluding Smart Routing servers, they might connect to a server physically in United States, increasing latency and worsening the experience.

   This could be added in Settings -> Connection -> Advanced Settings and would help a lot users that want the lowest possible latency while protecting their privacy.

   For all ProtonVPN clients, there should be a toggle option in Settings that allows you to exclude Smart Routing servers from your connection. Something like:

   "Exclude Smart Routing servers (use only servers physically located in your selected country)"

9. Feature request: Add forwarded port API method

   Problem: There is no officially support method for a torrent client to obtain the currently active forwarded port from Proton VPN.

   Current practices: The only way I've found to determine the port is to scrape the VPN client log. This is not officially supported and thus brittle, not to mention inefficient.

   Proposed solution: Add a lightweight REST listener in the client to respond to API requests. Including forwarded port status, so that a local client can determine if the VPN is currently active, if port forwarding is enabled, and what the current port is. A unified cross-platform client API would be ideal.

10. Ability to re-arrange pinned (favorite) servers

    The list of favorites is static at the moment. It would take great effort to re-arrange the list into the desired order, having to remove items, and add them in a planfull matter.

    Therefore it would be very handy, if dragging the list items around would be possible. Thanks!

11. Add Kill Switch option to Proton VPN app on FireTV .

    We have Proton VPN Plus but the Amaon/FireTV app does not offer the Kill Switch option. And the amazon app version is not the same as the version on our laptops...why?

12. Low Profile VPN Servers/IPs

    Almost all Proton IPs are polluted with bad reputation due to various malicious acts made through its VPN. This is really really annoying for good users.

    I think a large percentage of malicious acts made on Proton VPN servers are done via new accounts that are pretty quickly banned by Proton and by victims- but it still leaves a bad trace on the history of that ip.

    I propose a solution that could at least reduce ip pollution for quite a few users- what if we had few servers (or ips) that you only get access to after a year of subscription- by then if you were to act bad you’ll already be banned.

    (1) Please offer a feature to test all servers in a specific country for speed and latency and get the result as a list to chose the best server for use in other apps or as server on the router which doesn't have quick connect.
    (2) Similar feature to find the best available, reachable server for countries with censorship which blocks VPN.

16. auto reconnect to same profile in a interval basis

    I would like that Proton VPN reconnect to the same profile (but different server) in a interval basis, as I feel that after some hours the server gets overloaded and my connection very slow, I get myself needing to manually stop/start the connection to get to a different server. this process could be automated

17. VPN Network Automation

    PIA has a feature where the iOS app, and presumably its other apps, detect whether you’re connected using a cellular network or any number of known or unknown/public WiFi networks …. And you can set the app to take specific automated actions when it detects a change in network connection:
    -always maintain current VPN connection status
    -always connect to VPN
    -always disconnect from VPN
    etc.

    Used in conjunction with the kill switch, you could… set your phone to disconnect from the vpn upon detecting connection through your home network but always enable the on-device vpn client when it detects you’ve switched to a cellular network or any other unknown Wifi…. And et voilà! Seamless, no leaks VPN connection. Just set it, and forget it!

20. Add a timer to do automatic release and re-connect (adding reconnect to lowest # connections server in group)

    I find, on the Mac at least, that my VPN connection will become saturated and will fail after a while. I can solve this by disconnecting and then reconnecting. This seems to flush the tcp/ip stack and allows for network traffic to begin again. I then see qBitorrent is transferring on multiple connections again. Sometimes I need to restart qBitorrent as well, but not nearly as often. I don't know if this is a bug in the tcp/ip stack or how Mac handles the traffic on an OS level. It may also be from the saturation in the network stack because of the torrent client causing massive traffic. Regardless, a simple disconnect and reconnect usually fixes it.

    I believe this would also solve another issue. The VPN stays connected regardless on a specific server. It does not do a smart round robin check to see which server has the least traffic in the particular country group and then reconnect to the one with the lowest # connections. Theoretically the lowest traffic as well, but that would assume a fixed amount of traffic on each connection and we know that is not true.

    An automated timer based disconnect and reconnect option would solve a couple of issues:
    1) Fix the over saturated network issues that cause transfers to stop.
    2) Automatically disconnect and reconnect to the server with the lowest number of active connections, and potentially less traffic.

    • Make it so the reconnect only happens within the same country group as originally selected so that torrents stick to torrent friendly servers, etc.
