I'm having a problem with GAB.com. They just instituted a block for all VPNs and proxies because of malicious content arriving via VPNs. Unfortunately there are individuals in certain countries that don't want to be identified via normal traffic. And there are those individuals that believe in security and privacy. We need a work around for legitimate VPN usage.

I started a text file of servers blocked by Youtube. Something needs to be done.

I marked this as Critical and would like to see split requests fulfilled for all Proton VPN apps but especially the IOS version because the capability doesn't exist.

I just switched from Nord VPN to Proton VPN. My only issue is that Proton VPN is just unusable due to websites blocking the IP (e.g., Reddit just does not work) and the endless Cloudflare/Google captcha. I never encountered these issues with Nord VPN.

Upvoted and marked as important to me. I'm certainly in favor of Proton adding additional technology to allow for connecting to websites that actively block VPNs.

But I'm curious:

1) Have you tried turning *off* the "NetSheild" option (or alternatively, setting it to "block malware only" so as to allow ads/trackers) when attempting to connect to offending sites?

2) If adjusting "NetSheild" options doesn't cure connection issues for a given website, in situations where you're *comfortable* and *able* to do so, have you considered using "split tunneling" for connecting to that given website that actively blocks VPNs?

I've only had this VPN for less than 12 hours and I'm already infuriated at how limiting it is. I had to go through about 20 different servers before I found one that would let me through a couple websites and even then I >still< can't get into the Jagex Launcher. Everything else works perfectly, but I guess I should've known I'd hit a snag somewhere or another.

Also, to answer the guy below me, you can't use "stealth protocol" in a router config. I'm specifically trying to get this set up for a home router solution and at this point I'm just looking for other VPN providers.

True, recently Google News is blocked when Proton VPN is active even when I change location.

The German discounter app "Netto" also completely blocks access if you're connected to a VPN via mobile, which annoys me every time.

Proton is really broken. I think this is the first time I'm paying for a VPN that is that much blocked everywhere.

It probably has something to do with the free option. Please make distinct environments for paying vs free as suggested on another idea, because as of today, VPN is really unreliable.

I think a significant piece of the problem isn’t only the VPN itself, it is that I am in the USA and I choose a USA-based server and sometimes the financial institution I connect to thinks I’m in Europe or something like that. That seems to increase getting flagged as a potentially fraudulent login and can get accounts locked down.

When I used other VPNs based in the USA, the bank always saw me as in the USA when I connected to a U.S. based server, but with Proton it doesn’t, even when I choose the servers that are supposedly closest to me.

I have also fallen foul of this with websites blocking me while using ProtonVPN, what's more certain websites claim I am outside the UK even when using a UK Proton server.

What has really added insult to injury is that Trust Pilot will automatically flag any reviews as fake and remove them, if you happen to submit the review while using ProtonVPN. This happened to me and while they notified me that my review was flagged as fake mainly because I was using a VPN, I responded twice and supplied them with all the evidence they asked for. Despite this, my use of a VPN was simply too much for them and they flatly refused believe the evidence of their own eyes and reinstate my review. I've actually started to compile a list of websites that block ProtonVPN.
