How can we improve Proton VPN?

After update, icon is not in the taskbar

On Windows 10.

Since I have about 20 apps that add an icon to the taskbar, I hide many of them.

I want Proton VPN to be in the taskbar so I know if it is connected or not.

When Proton VPN is updated, the icon disappears and I have to go back into the task bar settings to re-enable it.

    I would like to bump this suggestion as well.

    Within Taskbar Settings, the option to "Select which icons appear on the desktop" allows Proton VPN, as well as other 3rd-party icons, to be permanently visible.

    Technical: If the AppUserModelID changes between versions, Windows might treat the updated .exe as a new application. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/shell/appids
