The way that the free version of Proton VPN currently works (on mobile, at least) is that the locations users can switch to are randomised, and there are timers that force you to wait between switches. Not only is this annoying for users, but from a business perspective, it doesn't seem very profitable. I understand that these features are here to encourage people to buy the premium version, but that leaves the people who don't want a subscription not being profitable at all. My proposal is to replace the timers and randomisation with needing to watch an ad to switch locations. This would not only be less annoying for users, but also more profitable, so I think both sides would benefit from this change.
