Proton Docs / collaboration suite
(folders and docs similar to GoogleDocs)
Proton mail needs some collaborative word processor and spreadsheet in a drive where people can securely work on it but only the person who owns the files can keep them and no one can download them or copy them.
Introducing Docs in Proton Drive – collaborative document editing that’s actually private: https://proton.me/blog/docs-proton-drive
With Docs you can:
- Write with privacy — Create and edit documents within Proton Drive, knowing your contents are only accessible to you and those you choose to share with.
- Share and invite anyone — Invite other users to view or edit your documents with a single click.
- Collaborate in real-time — Changes are reflected immediately, ensuring every contributor always sees the most up-to-date version.
- View cursors and presence indicators — See who else is viewing or editing the document, enhancing teamwork and communication.
- Leave comments and replies — Add comments to share feedback without editing the document. Comments are visible to all collaborators, keeping everyone in the loop.
- Import and export with ease — You can upload .docx documents, edit them, and download in various formats like .docx, .txt, .md, and HTML.

The applications and features are growing but the lack of document creation/editing are holding me back from a full suite solution. I need a openoffice equivalent file editor to really leverage Drive.

I hope Proton Drive can be on par with Dropbox in terms of functionality.
I hope Proton Drive can be used in sync on any device, just like Dropbox, and support file editing on the device.
In addition, I also appreciate that Proton Drive can open .zip and preview files on iPhone devices, and the PDF opening screen is very clean.

An office alternative to Google or Microsoft that would allow opening Spreadsheets and Docs from all platforms especially mobile when using Proton Drive.

Without a web doc and sheet editor functionality, no one migrates their company from Google's or Microsoft's workspace to Proton!
We use only web document and spreadsheet editors to work with documents on company drives. That saves us from troubles when people use different OS, laptops and editors. That type of feature is what companies in all sizes look for, but in your case, you have one huge advantage: you have also security and privacy layer. Please add docs and spreadsheet online editors and collaboration feature as soon as possible.
Good luck guys with the Proton platform, and keep it's going even more secure!
p.s. If you need a helping hand with that, let me know. I have been architects of cloud products of all sizes, also with very specific security needs.

This would be a game changer, should be merged with https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932839-proton-drive/suggestions/17516125-proton-docs-which-would-be-similar-to-googledocs, right?

I need Docs & Spreadsheet app that I can sync with Proton Drive. I recommend manual syncing to save server resources, instead of auto-sync. Leave auto-sync as feature for those that pay. I really want to get away from Google and this is the last thing holding me back. I don't recommend Onlyoffice because it is overly complicated and doesn't seem to be mobile friendly. I also could care less if docs are cross compatible with Word or Google Docs. If fact, I'd rather they not be. At least give us a note app that works with Proton Drive. I want to be able to seemlessly switch between my devices while working on a doc.

I would like to see this carried over to the family plans as well. I'm currently holding on to gsuite because I use this feature to manage important data between family members.

Needed also in family plan :
I will take a family plan (and close my Tresorit account) as soon as this feature is available
(Could also replace the dropbox account of my small company)

A basic function that must be included, also in the family plan. How else should you work together.

Plain text files is more than enough. Would be great, especially on mobile

Good morning,
I'm a CEO of a small business, and i was very disappointed with proton drive not be able to have a shared space where all collaborators can put documents and modify it.
For me it is a basic feature, for cloud's small businesses.
It is a must have, like google or one drive..
I'm really in need for this feature.
Thank you to put it in priority. -

As others said, it's really critical for business companies to be able to upload files to a specific folder (for example, to a non-private user drive).
At best, we should be able to set write/read access by user, and shared directories (from others users) should be listed and accessible on the left panel of Drive.
Actually, it's one of the major issue my team has with Proton Drive, and we will probably go back to Google Business.
Keep up the good work !

If this was available, I would move my business account over to Proton.
Even if Proton started with one aspect of it, that would be something. Do a rollout of a Writer -> Sheet -> Fancy Slides -> etc

This should also be a feature of a family plan

I'm stunned that drive does not currently support the 2nd point. While we can share a link, we can hardly share files to collaborate working in different locations. This is massive draw back & I really hope Proton is able to take this feedback seriously.

This would be a great feature! Just basic .txt file creation & editing would be a good start.

Just a clone of google keep but privacy friendly would be great. I really need it to be able to quit google entirely

Also I would love to ditch google drive in favour of Proton Drive, but the reason I can't is the slow transfers. I need to share large media files typically larger than 1GB, but no matter how or what device I try it from I can't upload them faster than about 2 or 3 Mbps. Unless that changes then for me it's moot whether I can sync with Proton Drive or not.

Agree, so long as it's not restricted to one type of phone only. I still don't understand why iOS is usually catered to first when there are more than double the number of Android users. Time and again, developers only support iOS at the expense of the larger Android market. I'm in pro audio and it happens all the time there too, they only develop an iPad version of an app simple enough to run perfectly well on cheap Android devices.
So by all means I agree with these features but please don't restrict the app to one mobile OS!
