Open local PDF files on mobile
The Proton Drive mobile app can open PDF files uploaded within the app. However, it is not registered to open PDF files from within the system (e.g. a PDF file inside the File Manager). Adding this won't be difficult, especially since Proton Drive mobile app can already open these files.

VERY CRITICAL!
I have just purchased the full Proton suite - the only thing making it less than perfect is the ability to edit within Drive. If not editing, then at least viewing. This is a must for mobile users - what's the point of having documents we can't see?
Downloading before editing defeats the purpose as it has to be re-uploaded.

This is critical to me as well. I have moved to Proton Drive from Microsoft's OneDrive, and while I can read all documents on my Windows computer, I can't open them on my Android phone. This is a complete show-stopper for me and I may have to move back to OneDrive, as much as I might hate to...

Please add this feature. I may have to go back to Microsoft OneDrive (as much as I don't want to) because I need to be able to access my documents on both my computer and Android phone, which I could do with OneDrive.

Currently, editing documents in Proton Drive on mobile (Android) has small delays that add up.
- Clicking to edit an existing document has loading time - could a local document be opened straight away and the changes submitted to the cloud version in Proton Drive? (I have the local backup switched on but it appears the main editable version is on the cloud).
- When rotating the phone vertical and horizontally, the document reloads, causing loading delays and moving the view to the top of the doc. Could rotating the document not just maintain the current document on view and just change the orientation?
- There's a bug whereby in some areas (certain WIFIs and poor mobile connection) clicking an existing document will instead create and open a brand new empty document which is placed at the root of your proton drive space.

If I am navigating my documents on the Proton Drive Android app, I can open text and pdf documents, but word documents and spreadsheets just return an icon. I would like an "Open With" dialogue to select an application on my phone to open the document with (this is similar to Google Drive and Filen).

awesome.
it works on iOS 18.1are these features also planned for Windows? - so far it opens a browser and stay on the "loading" screen and refuses to proceed.

I thought they've added that already, but maybe not iOS (I see it on the Android version)

It's the same behavior on iOS. At the very least the Proton Drive app needs the ability to create Documents. Currently I have to login to the Proton drive via the web browser to create Documents. At least the Proton Drive app can detect Documents and automatically open them in a web browser correctly.

Using Proton Docs through the web browser is good enough, but non-technical people (mostly, people invited on Family plan) are rebutted by this. They are confused as to why a different app (the web browser) launch, and why they need to re-login again in the browser.
Having everything in the app would really help them adopt the product!

I'm holding off on migrating my notes to proton docs until they at least commit to this being on their short-term roadmap.

Proton Docs will become much more useful to more user if there is an app/option to view/edit files on mobile devices (and hopefully also desktops) - even if it would just be basic text editor functionality.

I am a phone/tablet user 95% of the time so the ability to use an application rather than a mobile browser for editing files would be GREAT!

Agreed, being able to edit it inside the proton drive app would be superior to opening a web browser. Instead of having to log back in, and re-authenticate.

Currently, in the Proton Drive Android app, when I select a Proton Document, the app opens the web browser, and I am able to view the document in my web browser on my phone. In the web browser, I'm also marginally able to edit the document, though editing support is very poor.
Instead, please create a mobile app for editing Proton Docs that provides full mobile-native editing support for Proton Docs on both Android and iOS.

Please allow us to directly open files in our Drive with another Android application. I don't need an integrated viewer for every type of file, just away to open the applications that are already registered for that type of file on my phone.
I recently moved in from Dropbox to Proton Drive, and I probably wouldn't have done it had I realized this feature was unavailable!
