Tag photos and find objects in photos
Being able to tag (and recognise) objects, persons and animals in photos making google photos obsolete

Thinking of making the switch to Proton Mail/Drive/Enterprise and this is essential for me to do that.
Multiple tags per file/photo, searchable in any combination.

Any heavy user understands that management by hierarchy is seemingly convenient but doomed. This is why every service that uses hierarchies becomes more complex.
Tags enable multidimensional search. If you can search for files with the same tag or files tagged one hop ahead, the usability improves dramatically. -

Albums are great, thanks for adding them. However, they should act more like folders. If I add photos to an album, I don't want them to still be visible in the main Photos view.

This is critical and very easy to implement.

It's sad to join proton to find out something as basic as this has been asked for a long time and not being delivered. I'm trying to migrate from Google but its been a pain **********. And even if I leave aside importing thousands of pictures what bothers me is now my recent pictures are being backed up to proton drive but in the future I wont be able to find them without wasting lots of time

I currently use tags on MacOS to organise files, but they don't sync through ProtonDrive so it feels kind of pointless. Tags are critical to the way I organise my files so this feature is pretty much necessary for me to make a switch to ProtonDrive permanently

Being able to organise photos in Proton Drive by e.g. folders which I could share with other family members, will be the difference between paying for Proton Drive and using only the free version.

Totally support this. The main issue with Google Photos was that you could never see which photos you hadn't saved into folders (or albums) yet.
Proton drive isn't as good at finding pictures as Google is, but I put up with that for the increased privacy. However, you have to provide other user friendly functionalities to make up for this! -

Gotta have this critical way to help with key-wording and organizing.

I love Proton Drive. But I wish we could organize our photos.
Right now I rely on iCloud to tag and organize photos to have them at hand when needed. However this feature would finally release me from Apple and it's services. -

Tagging and/or starring documents in proton drive will make it easier to find specific files or find important items instead of throwing them all in a single folder called "Important" *this is what I have been doing". Additionally this can make it quicker to access them.

And be able to move any pictures to an other Proton Drive folder!

This would be critical for organization, as other services allow this too; Folder colors would already help to some extent, but colored tags would be miles better, as we could filter by them too

I know this idea has been posted previously. Being able to organize Files & Folders several different ways using Color Coded Tags would be a MAGNIFICENT improvement of PROTON DRIVE.
By using tags, and the ability to use SEVERAL tags on each File and Folder, Proton Drive would become a magnificent, user friendly file storage system.I would amend previous suggestions by stressing the importance of being able to:
1) Use several Tags on each File or Folder
2) Color Code the tags
3) Choose Custom Made Colors in addition to standard Colors, which is something that ProtonMail also could use
4) Combine Tags in Groups, thus quickly and easily setting up a customized access to Files & Folders, thus making Files & Folders easily accessible for certain specific Project one is working on. Such Groups could then be deleted after a Project is ended, without messing up the original Tags.
5) Combine Shapes and Colors on Tags, thus expanding greatly the ways Tags could be used to distinguish Files & Folders from each other. -

I would love the ability to create folders in the photos section of Proton Drive.
Note that I'm NOT looking for the ability to create albums or tags, but to actually create folders within the photos section as a way of organizing my pictures.
This was a feature that I used in Dropbox to manage a large amount of photos, and I was frustrated that it wasn't available in Google photos. I'm hoping that you can add it to Proton Drive (along with a smoother docs experience) to make it the best backup offering out there.

Cannot agree more strongly. I have nearly 17,000 photos spanning more than the last 10 years of my family's lives currently in paid-for, SmugMug photo storage. Folder organization is indispensable, and I cannot begin to transfer my Smug pics over to Proton Drive photos until some organizing capability is built in -- which is a bummer since I'm paying for both Proton and Smug storage.

Ive been using Google Photos for years now and one of the nices features it has is being able to organize a bunch of photos that are all related to a specific event. You can also use folders for other things, for example I have a folder in google photos with receipts of produtcs (like computer parts) that are still in warranty for a couple of years.

Tags should be preserved from other sources/file system as well

The ability to manually add custom tags to any kind of file or folder, then perform searches using those tags. Would also be very useful in Proton Drive Photos.

Tagging is a must, AI searches for objects would be a fabulous add, but not a deal breaker. Also need larger Drive storage options for the family account plan. And I want to make sure all metadata is saved with my photos--date, time, location if available, and what camera and camera setting were used.
