Photo Albums, tagging, location search
Albums, photo tagging, search by location for Proton Drive Photos.
Pretty much like Google Photos, but encrypted. Probably without the automatic classification since that would require you to see my photos :D
With today's addition of Albums into Proton Drive, some of the requested features have already been completed, with more already being announced as part of our future plans and development.
As Albums on Proton Drive develops, the rest of your photo-album related feature requests will make their way! In the meantime, please make use of the feature and help us develop it further starting today!

The feature is NOT completed !! Still no tagging, and location search. I'll cancel my next unlimited proton to go to Ente photos which is much better in these matters.

also a bug, in the Album viewer, the scroll bar on the right is not initially sized by the number of photos, meaning it is impossible to jump to the end of the album, that is, I have to manually scroll all the way down.

Addition of Album feature was nice, but it was premature to close this feature request.
The only thing thats added from this request after recent change is the Album Feature itself. Whats missing: tagging (classification in general) and access to geolocation data from metadata in images. This should be reopened and allow more votes until properly completed. This feels more like an excuse to make a blog post and brag about a new feature coming.

two other feature requests
(1) when you hit "add to album", can the default behavior NOT be to jump to that album ? I'd prefer to stay in the timeline and just be able to add/sort as I go and not have to jump back to Photos
(2) within an album, can you add the same button for "Add to Album" when selecting photos, for cases where one photo might belong in two albums, like if I have an album for "Italy" and albums for "Food" and "Museums" -

No search in there, no tagging, still no way to scroll quickly to a given date, but the feature is marked as completed. What a joke.

I have been updating my app and refreshing it for last days but it hasnt appeared here yet. I assume the good stuff needs some time. Today i noticed that i got a message stating that my photo library is being made ready for albums and filters and it might take some time.
Got this message on the web app. Merci! -

How do I create an album? I received this notification today, and there's even a page on the blog promoting albums (https://proton.me/blog/proton-drive-photo-albums) but there doesn't appear to be any way to create an album, either via the app or when logged in. What am I missing?!?

I am wondering what is the purpose of us voting for features if it is closed before being completed :(

Looks promising but not yet visible in my account. When will be the Albums feature deployment?

I pay for Google one basically for my email storage that is linked together with Google Photo. The only way I can replace that subscription with Proton is if I have a similar set of features as I have in Google Photo (location search, person search)

This is the largest missing feature in Proton, and I say this as a former Visionary member.

proton needs to make photo albums..otherwise it is useless, to have all pictures displaced and not categorizied..
such a great opportunity...now end of life windows10....so many useres wanna change to linux and use libreoffice. -

Additionally it would be great to support the folder structure of a Google Photo Backup (Google Takout) and capture the albums in there. It would ease moving from Google to Proton

Like others says, we are all looking for ways of moving from Google and Microsoft, and this is one of those features (along with phone contacts) which keeps us connected.
