I agree, a locked folder similar to how OneDrive has a secure vault would be helpful. A use case would be on the mobile apps. That locked folder has keys and id photos that are not accessed on a regular basis, but you want to keep the Proton Drive app unlocked without a passcode so that other files can be accessed by the system for sharing, editing, by the Files app on iOS, etc.

I think having an additional folder called "vault" and required another password separate from your login password would be great. Give an additional layer of security for those files, like medical or passport info or whatever. All without having to use cryptomator. Especially when it comes to mobile devices.

Adding a passcode to proton drive and proton mail just like in proton pass would be a great feature. 3 wrong attempts then it logs you out and will require your full password +2FA. This feature would be very useful to people who have other people around their computer at times.

I have my proton drive mounted in my PC.
In OneDrive I always had this functionality.
Used to store all kind of personal documents, which I don't often access, but are critical to keep safe (Passport, Recovery codes, legal stuff etc)

This would be a great secondary security measure for critical or sensitive documents. OneDrive has this with their "Vault" feature

Not sure if this is the same issue, but there's certainly an overlap. I just installed the Drive app. I keep my private documents in a Veracrypt drive, which I only mount when I need it. I figure that if my laptop gets stolen I've got an extra level of security against scoundrels getting my data. But the Drive app will not allow me to assign a folder on this drive as my sync folder - it says "Drive type not supported".

Please Proton - is it possible to support this type of Drive?

I think this might put some users at ease when you sync with your devices. Even if you have your folders synced to e.g. your phone, someone with access to the unlocked device can't open certain very private folders without an extra password. Currently I use verycrypt and picocrypt for that, so IDK how important this feature really is, but might be good to have.

Don't care about this at all, what's the use exactly? Proton already uses Zero Knowledge end to end encryption and you either trust that or not.

I have recently joined Proton drive and love it so far but I am really missing a "lock" option to be activated to folders I deem it necessary for. At minimum a simple pincode would do :)

This is the most important feature missing from Drive.

Microsoft implemented this nicely in OneDrive. They call it a personal vault. You can't see the folders in the personal vault without "unlocking it" with a separate passcode. When the vault is locked, the items in the vault don't appear in OneDrive searches.

If someone happens to be shoulder surfing, they can't see the folders/files in the vault.

While we're waiting for Proton to indicate that they've seen this...

I've used Cryptomator with Proton Drive to get much of the same effect. It would be more convenient if Drive just too care of it, but it works.

The new proton doc is great in that it is end to end encrypted. However I am concerned in case in the future someone compromises my password say in a breach or similar. I would like an extra layer of security where I could password protect individual documents so that the only way to access them would be to be signed into my account AND to have knowledge of the password for that document...

I would love to see this. Adding an extra password, but also make sure that the contents are not synced to whatever computer you have the app installed on. What is the point of having the folder password-protected if it will just be downloaded to a computer

I feel a custom timeout option should be included so that vault locks after X minutes of inactivity.
