Proton Docs download to .odt feature
Besides .docx, many of us who use Linux and free/open-source software like LibreOffice Writer sometimes use .odt instead. It would be wonderful to have a direct export/download to .odt within Proton Docs

Super important, especially for people trying to get away from generic big tech but have been surrounded by generic brands like Microsoft and Google (Drive) their entire lives.
Alternatives to big tech programs exist, but they also should be accessible on platforms like Proton Drive!

ODF is to documents what the E-Mail standard is to communication. Proton should supprot it 100%

Hello,
That new .odt export in Proton Docs sounds like a really useful addition, especially for people who prefer open document formats over proprietary ones. I often work with tools that focus on open-source accessibility and performance, and this reminds me how much flexibility that approach offers. For instance, in 3D printing, I’ve been using Orca Slicer https://orcaslicer.pro/ it’s a free, open-source slicer that converts 3D models into precise print instructions with advanced calibration and AI assisted error detection. Features like these show how open tools can match or even surpass paid alternatives in real-world usability. -

Completely agree with this. .odt format is preferable for me as some applications on my phone won't let me edit the document if its in .docx format, whereas if it is in .odt format they work great, hence I believe it would be a great way to improve compatibility.

add the option to export to the OpenDocument format, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDocument
Supporting an open format is friendlier towards the user as they can more easily take their documents form and to ProtonDrive / ProtonDocs and it makes collaboration with other software easier. -

I believe any option to export to ODT would be inline with Proton vision

Very much agree! This is critical to efficiently collaborate with people without access to MS Office. ODF is also literally an international standard (ISO 26300) so there is no reason not to use it as default format, or at least as export option.

Wholeheartedly agree. Want nothing to do with docx and any closed MS format. It would be great to not only support ODF formats, but also be able to choose the default format of any new documents to suit the needs of the user.
